Skatergirl in Brooklyn
« on: April 24, 2019, 08:36:01 AM »
My name is Christie and I am a female skateboarder living in Brooklyn. I’m in the process of putting together a video after getting hurt  and want others to check it out. Currently trying to be more active in the scene as well as look for more opportunities.

Attached a preview below  8)

great spot choice, love that lil plaza. Are you connected to any other groups in NYC like brujas? Either way, looks like you're off to a good start. New York is the best looking city for skateboarding imo

Get dat shrimp;

  Only advice I have from observation is '' Don't be that girl''.  And what I mean by that is being overly active filming your progress through social media; not saying not to document. I love filming my friends progress for her, she only started a year and a half ago but seems to get something new everytime we go out.

  Here in Toronto we have this group called the ''babes brigade'' they started out rad, encouraging young girls to shred and giving a safe space to do it in.  Then it got to the leaders head; then she started using social fallacies to shame skaters if they don't give them half the park to practice in.  We are all skaters, fucking girl skaters or guy skaters, little kid skaters, gay skaters. Fuck, I'm over this social justice political correctness shit.  I'm gonna shut the fuck up and go skate. Rant over.

Let me preface this post with the fact that I am slightly inebriated, very uneducated and I havent read any papers or done any research at all, or read your post really.

Judging by your YT titles: Is "Skatergirl" your pseudonym? Maybe just go by your real name instead, otherwise it'll seem like you're trying to develop a brand or something corny like that.

you don't need to film every little thing. i'm not sure what's the baseline for exciting footage but you're not there yet.

This. On that second paragraph. I've had girls call me out because I was wearing a shirt for a group like what you're describing saying something like, "you're not a girl". It seems super contradictory to me. I like that there aren't coaches or teams in skateboarding and there's no separation between class/age/race/gender. We all go to the skatepark and we're all skateboarders. I do understand the need for such groups but don't create another wall of division. Let's support each other and not build more walls. /end rant

I guess you didn’t happen to see the video of me tearing my acl on my channel. It’s more of a storyline or way to show I’m still skating regardless

No I’m not. I have footage of me destroying my acl skating a five. It’s funny when people compare me to other females when I’m one of those hardcore female street skaters out skating in Brooklyn everyday. I don’t believe in forming an all girls crew

step your game up girl. i like that you don't need an all girl crew but you're not special that you need your own slap thread. a 5? i still skate 5s and i've got dingleberries older than you. nobody wants to see my dingleberries and nobody  wants to see a girl hurt her acl on a small set.

Serious question:

How do you get your video quality to be SO BAD in 2019?
