Seriously good selection, sequence, and blending. So much feeling in the mix.

Some new mixes  :)

A wild trip through minimal, garage, house, and techno:

https://www.mixcloud.com/Kronenberg_/july-30-2020/

My most disco-oriented mix yet:

https://www.mixcloud.com/Kronenberg_/july-27-2020/

An eclectic journey from soul to disco to house to techno:

https://www.mixcloud.com/Kronenberg_/trip-mix/

I finally got my XDJ RXII. It is so amazing being able to fine tune my music organization, see the wav forms, have great control over my levels, etc. “Trip mix” is the only one of these I recorded on my old setup, a couple of old tiny Stanton cdj’s and Vestax mixer.

Hey fella, listened to your July 30th mix yesterday and it's awesome. It's fun listening to you on your new equipment. Amazing!

I’ve been listening to a lot of Bristol house and techno lately, and I think this is a good recent example
https://youtu.be/yz7IXQ_fNeA

I think this release in particular has been getting some shine recently

https://youtu.be/Wbpsjyt2Rjk

The label, Blank Mind is a really interesting one and definitely worth checking out

There is some good music in that mix but it is strange and misleading for the youtube channel to call the mix "Detroit House Music." I don't think any of those producers are from Detroit, MI, especially the exceedingly annoying and tellingly named Detroit Swindle. I'm glad they included at least one black American producer, Black Jazz Consortium a.k.a. Fred P, but he is from New York City. I understand that the Detroit House music scene, exemplified by masters such as Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Mike Huckaby (RIP), Marcellus Pittman, Omar-S, etc. has a particular sound that people around the world listen to and are inspired by, but it's really weird to fake the funk calling this a Detroit House mix. Thankfully the world of house music is waking up to disrespectful appropriation of Black American culture, thanks in large part to Ash Lauryn, an amazing dj, producer, and journalist in Atlanta, GA. So much cringeworthy colonizer activity took place in the house and techno scenes for forty years but people are finally calling it out. Sorry for the rant. It's a tricky subject. I'm white and I am obsessed with house music and other black musical forms but I try to do them honor and justice and present them and participate in them with respect. Generally, the situation is getting better. People are learning the true stories of this great music. I remember talking with ignorant Germans back in 2011 who had no idea techno was from Detroit. They then went on to do horrendous blaccent and talk about how "gangsta" America is. It was really depressing.

Sorry again for the long rant, none of that energy was directed at you @lemonchicken91, thanks for sharing cool tunes with us.

Anyway, I have a new mix:

Those Europeans sound terrible. There’s definitely a lot of vocational club goers out there who don’t know/care about the history of dance music. That being said, the real heads know. And you know there’s real heads out there.

Glad there are some heads here on SLAP! Thanks also for sharing those Bristol tunes. I absolutely love the Nature Unit track. I am putting that track in my bandcamp cart for sure! https://blankmindlabel.bandcamp.com/album/nature-unit

Bristol has so much great talent. I particularly like Peverelist. I would love to visit Bristol one day and shop at Idle Hands record shop and go to some clubs. The city has such a great take on garage, house, techno, etc.

Hell yes, thanks! Peverelist is great too. Livity Sound has been on a tear lately, The last 3 releases were all top notch.
It’s particularly interesting for me to watch the Bristol scene because you can see how ideas and production techniques from dubstep, which used to be huge there transfer over into house and techno, along with jungle and IDM influences.

This is a well written and interesting post. I've only recently learned of the real history of Chicago and Detroit house. In my brain it always seemed like a European white guy thing but it was crazy to learn the origins were similar to hip hop and its quick spread throughout different cultures worldwide

Not sure if it was visible in my previous post, but I did a little mix too. Plenty of variety there, but the first half is pretty much all house. Enjoy!

@Technique This mix is so good. This morning after I made breakfast I lit up a J, fired up this mix, and did Sunday chores. It was glorious. Top notch set!

Hey house #gang. I haven't been here much lately but thought I'd drop in to say I've got another house mix up on Mixcloud if you're in the mood for some music while you're doing the dishes.
Hope everybody is well. Life has taken some interesting twists and turns these last several months but it's all good shit I think.

Oh fuck yes.

I've got all of these except for the Phoenix on Vinyl. I went bonkers for the Roule and Crydamore sound and bought every bit of it I could find. And the one Scratche (sp?) release by Buffalo Bunch. So good. Crydamore particularly had a bizarre, bright sound that is unmatched and bizarre. Very formative stuff for me.

Glenn Astro put out some real heat with Max Graef some house, some hip hop, some funk. This was my jam for about a year along with "yard work simulator" (different album and a funk track). When house is done right it's soooo damn good. https://youtu.be/qZL7BsYvito

Damn just found this thread. Cool to see some regular posters in UWB have similar tastes to myself. I'm yet another DJ on here, usually play more Garage, Bruk, UK 130 bass stuff, footwork, jungle etc, but here's something I've been loving lately
