dude is a skateboarding treasure - he should be protected like some last-of-its-kind tortoise and only fed the healthiest of foods and pampered to death, so he can produce more magic like this part

That interview was really dark. I hope that by putting all that out there that it gives him motivation to turn his life around.

Respect for structuring the part along the lines of drunk/sober, hope he'll stay the course and continue to skate with a vengeance.

When he did a trust fall into the lake at the beginning I knew that they would show that shit in reverse later. It's like Chekhov's gun, but for Euro video parts.

Some of those hippy jumps seemed like an afterthought, the way he combines tricks, the flow is so natural.

Good luck to him.

Amazing video part, Jarne remains one of my favorites.

But the interview was a little confusing - maybe it was due to it being translated? He was only 2 days sober at the time of the interview, and yet they hail him as a success story despite numerous instances of relapsing. I'm not an addiction expert and don't have any friends or family who have suffered from it, but don't you usually celebrate someone's sobriety much later than 2 days?

Furthermore, they mentioned his battles with alcohol, then suddenly mention him seeing his dealer. What drug was he purchasing? This is an important aspect of his recovery story, and they just gloss over it.

As a casual aside, they mention that his sponsors paused his contracts because he would just buy dope with the checks. And in the intro, Jarne's experience with "hard drugs" is thrown out there without much further ado. Stark contrast to Greco who's made a cottage industry out of his past heroin use.

Sick part. That fs lip on the wall was crazy. I wonder if it was elements idea to make the part/interview about his drinking. Seems unnecessary to publicize all those details.

Because he hasn’t been sober for that long. Plus he could’ve just mentioned he was battling alcoholism instead of making a whole interview/part around it. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, it just makes me wonder if the part was elements idea. It seemed like he didn’t want the whole interview to be about his alcoholism.

I fucking love Jarne's skating and would hate for him to continue down the spiral of addiction.
Wish I could do something to help him out.

It seemed like a  pretty authentic dialogue between close friends who have gone through a ton of shit and even though he wanted to touch on some positives at the end, he was more than willing to open up about the dark details. I think having it out in the open is an extra layer of accountability that he wants. He talked about the kid who told he how he used to be his favorite skater before his struggles and how badly that hurt, so I'd imagine getting it out there to everyone will be even more motivation to stay clean.

And that part was incredible.

I imagine that there were two motivations behind making this whole part/interview about his addictions. The main one being personal : as he mentions it, for him there is something highly therapeutic in getting this project done. The second one is to let the people know what he's been going through as a way of raising awareness around drug abuse.

I don't think that the idea came from Element. But somebody has to pay the filmer.

Love this dude's skating. As is often the case, I wish he'd find a filmer who didn't constantly whip the camera around. It would be sick to actually be able to see the trick clearly, but I realize that's so 2000s to even say that...

After this he put out the Double Impact part with Phil, then a little while after that was his Pro part, then a little while after that was his Jacky Jacky part. I wouldn't consider that "disappearing."
