How can you convert DVD to AVI to save onto your computer?
Which program is applicable for ripping certain scenes/episodes without having to rip the entire disc?
Any help is appreciated.

ask google and add "convertor" and "free" in there and you might become lucky.

I use Handbrake.  It requires some guessing about what scenes are what, but once you get it sorted you can use that to rip.

I throw in the DVD, use Mac the Ripper to remove compression/encryption, then Squared5 to convert to DV or AVI.  Then you can use iMovie to clip any scene or frame that you want from the DV file.  Simple.
