He used to show up to my local shop every other month with his board brand. Awesome shapes and comes in the old plastic bag instead of shrink wrap. He gave one to me once, but he also sells some for like 100 dollars.

 Mike V is like a yin-yang, he's done some really cool stuff but he's also a mega kook.

Mike V is responsible for some of the kookiest moves in the history of skateboarding, but also some of the best. More than you can say of most pro skaters.

You thought he came off as humble?  Interesting.  I can imagine it's hard to talk about yourself without sounding boastful when you actually did contribute a lot to something - but I slogged through that 5 hr episode on a road trip and my take was 'we get it man, people have given you props'

Back sometime between 97-99, i watched him do his spoken word thing for about 5 minutes in the basement of a skate shop owner's house in New Brunswick. It was crowded and not too interesting. He had to have gone for over an hour.

Dude's stories on the nine club sounded rehearsed. A little overly sentimental/corny but not the worst.
