This might be total bullshit that I made up. I feel like truckers came around as a cheaper alternative to promotional hats that were all fabric. Having the foam front and plastic back had to be way cheaper than all cotton panels. Then farmers and truckers and shit would get them from tractor stores or gas stations or wherever.

That sounds accurate. Just look at Ray Barbee with his RB Control hat (arrbee?). Before that, everyone would pick up free painters caps at the local hardware store. These became so popular during the early '80s that clothing companies started making their own versions to emulate skateboarders and bmxers who drew checkerboards on them. I feel that people seeking out truckers caps for non-utilitarian reasons can be traced directly to early Black Label skater Shawn Martin. He's somewhat the archetype of the NorCal/Pacific Northwest gnar-dog.

Im sure trucker hats popped up here and there.  I was refering specifically to the ironic use of one and it could have been skaters or it coulda been art students or people in a music group.    Hipsterism was bumping long b4 2010 holy shit.  Vancouver for one place. Edit ^love that photo.  I skated back then.

I buy Nescafé instant coffee and prefer it over anything else. My laptop is a hand-me-down Dell from a friend’s brother who works in IT. All of my music is digital, and I listen to it on my iPod that was picked from an electronic recycle dump. Am I a hipster?

all that stuff you mentioned is so UNhipster, that it is in fact hipster.
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

I've heard quadruple-amputee porn be described as "Nugget Porn".

Still makes me laugh.

After reading the TNT v. Snugglebandit lawsuit, I'm going to have to say that the whole nor-cal gnar-dog look is largely ironic. Don't get me wrong, I love Wade Speyer, but co-opting the trucker look then actually buying a rig with skateboard earnings seems to be the complete opposite way people tend to become truck drivers.

Idk if you could call it a “hipster tendency“ but I’m actually really cool and ahead of the curve when it comes to popular trends.

my gf and I are both obnoxiously hipster but also incredibly authentic in what we like so it's a weird hipster not hipster situation.

she's into craft beers but i don't drink so she brings me to breweries where i take tiny sips of her stuff and say shit like "that tastes spicy"

I'm into coffee and only buy local roasted shit and grind it every morning and do pour over and drink it black and she puts creamer in it and is like "that tastes spicy"

she's heavily tattooed, i have a few but they're all really shitty cause they were done in dorm rooms and bathrooms when i was dumb and young.

i'm vegetarian.

She's really into anime and video games and the greenbay packers, i'm really into art house films and old fashion photography.

She has a degree in sign language, I have a degree in writing - we both have unrelated jobs we dislike. There are multiple antiques around our place, typewriters, etc. all the furniture is midcentury modern. She comes to art shows i'm in and we always leave early.

we both wear a lot of stripes and we live in the hippest try hard town in NJ (asbury park) but we both also grew up here.

it's really cringey at times because it's like the perfect archetype of hipsterism- but at the same time we both just kind've like what we like and are pretty authentic about things so it's like a self defeating amount of hipsterism. it's confusing but also very low key. can't explain it.

She should totally get a job as an interpreter for ASL, I talk to all the interpreters we get for my daughters dr. appointments and shit and they make some decent cash. I've been to Asbury Park a few times, very hipster place. My buddy owns a company that operates near there so when I visit him we hit Kane or Dark City brewing. Or high Voltage for coffee.

My wife and I are very much the opposite in ways other’s outside of us don’t understand.

I am a white guy with a Puerto Rican lady whose into anime and arts and crafts but I am into black metal who makes chain mail and play’s in several bands I have created where she’s the drummer.

Totally the opposite of what is conventional, it gives others a head scratcher. I love it and I don’t give a shit.

It's weird, when I was young and barely had any money I could afford to be cool and do cool things. Now I've got a salary job and I can't afford shit. Thanks wife and kids.

Damn dude I feel this so much. Sounds like my life except I got 2 kids and not making quite as much. But to go visit the family in LA , takes about 6 months to plan it out. Life man

Skateboard not quite a hipster item.  Barely transends that.

my gf and I are both obnoxiously hipster but also incredibly authentic in what we like so it's a weird hipster not hipster situation.

she's into craft beers but i don't drink so she brings me to breweries where i take tiny sips of her stuff and say shit like "that tastes spicy"

I like a lot of stuff you mentioned and have dabbled in many of the cliche hipster hobbies and activities. I can't afford that stuff anymore though, either with money or time.

It's weird, when I was young and barely had any money I could afford to be cool and do cool things. Now I've got a salary job and I can't afford shit. Thanks wife and kids.

Dude I feel you. Before kids I was making like $13 an hour and had tons of cash to blow. Now I'm close to six figures, well over six figures including wife's salary. 3 kids and I'm broke as hell. Now we have to plan shit months in advance to do cool shit. Like "let's take a spontaneous last minute trip to New Orleans...in April 2020"

Doing kids right is expensive
