I immediately snapped up one of those slicks and now I'm stunned to be excited about a slick-bottom deck. I think the last slick deck I was excited to own was...jeez...maybe the terminator scratch-off deck? Burger board? I can't remember but it's happened in my life before, years and years ago.

dont u think the other guys will be nervous when you show up with that board and the william ogs

This shot stuck out. Weirdly nostalgic with the angle, camera move, environment, and wardrobe.

There's definitely going to be some exchanged looks and mopping of brows. Once they see me ollie up a curb without falling, though...yeah they'll know what's up.

imagine if polar still had cyrus & vincent. it'd be so unfair.

Punk rock Bill Hader was sick

Came to post about Bill Hader likeness. Punk Rock Bill Hader seems like the dude who doesn’t skate as much anymore with only a few bag of tricks but can pull off insane maneuvers every now and then.

I was watching this with friends yesterday and wondered aloud “Is it just me or is the 917 team made up of people who would fit on Polar but just aren’t on?”
Really enjoyed the video. Glad we get these too because they’re pretty different from the Polar vids.

This was sooo much better than the first one. Really liked this actually.
Great soundtrack. Didn't see what the fuzz about Aaron Loreth was last time - now I do.
And of course Max fucking Palmer

I watched a bit, scanned through. Which is what I did for the first vid.

Seemed cool. I appreciate when the vid has stuff us "normal" people might be able to do on a good day thrown in there. And when i say this I'm referring to an ollie over a planter I saw and the dude skating the curb doing manuals, though that one nose manny was pretty tight.

Soundtrack was better this time around too which makes me think Alex Olson went full Cartman and said "fuck you guys I'm doing the soundtrack myself this time!"

The Genesis/Tears for Fears section gives me some serious Gordon Bombay rollerblading in D2 vibes.

Have a gnar for referencing such a classic moment in cinematic history.

i feel like this video is trying to be too many things at the same time and ends up having no personality.

some of slowmo feels really misplaced.

the lifestyle footage seemed pointless.

skating is really sick in places.

This vid and a lot of skate vids end up looking like a bunch of dudes standing around in the street just "looking cool" filmed in HD so scene girls can pause and wonder, "Who's that!?" amidst another slumber party pillow fight.

I actually love that Nada Surf song... I've listening to it all day. Lots of forgotten gems on this soundtrack.

Max Palmer is one of the most exciting skaters to watch these days. I was also bummed that Alex didn't have a single trick, but the rest of the team made up for it. That tall dude with all the manny combos is sick too.

how does it have no personality? it's a bunch of friends having fun. what does a video with a personality look like to you?

as far as "friends having fun", the first 917 video lol, man down, a beauty and the beast tour video; as far as the company itself having a specific personality and identity, a stereo video maybe? this one felt like watching drinking footage from a bad office party. the video itself just does a bad job of saying anything about them and relies too heavily on already having some info on who they are from some nebulous social media space. if i was super plugged into their twitters and insta accounts id probably like the video a lot more, but coming at it from a blank slate, i have no idea who any of the guys on the team are besides max vincent and cyrus and the lifestyle footage didnt really help establish anything about those people or the team. they just feel like no-name ny transplants who are eager to please. which is cool, but i just dont care.

i liked the soundtrack to their first video a little better, but i really appreciated listening to 'carondelet' in this one.
I started getting a lot better when I went back to college and started taking a lot of math classes when I was 31.

I figured out how to figure things out better, if that makes sense.

All these Strobeck style videos are blurring together.  It's hard to tell them apart

that barry/ali lookalike in a leather jacket was tight but other than matt kings song to vincent not skating spots max and cyrus made this video. didn’t know who most of these fools were. still a really good video though.

^^thats a good way to end this thread.

But

Do you ever take a bong rip and watch Vincent’s 917 #2 part in a dark room with the sound up, then get super paranoid and go hit the streets at night?

I've watched this a bunch, but just a few days ago I realized one of the songs is an early track from the Steal my Sunshine sis-bro group, was kinda mind blowing.

Yeah! Aaron Loreth's song, it's Candy Pop by Len from their 1994 album. They dug deep on that one (who listens to Len's 1994 album?). It was actually one of my favourite tracks in the video.

Just rewatched this and wow did I not remember how badly this was put together. I kept thinking for half the guys in it that if that were my footage, I'd be bummed at the premiere watching how it was presented. I started wondering if it was done slipshod on purpose, like an attempt at normcore video interpretation, but it was all over the place without any discernable style or consistency.

Wtf was with the music in Vincent's part? Listen to the three songs in max 's part and see if they make any sense going from one to the next. I'm not sure if the music paused at all throughout the entire video, like a DJ mix, but there was never really any transition between any song. All of the big names on the team like Max, Cyrus, Aaron Loreth and Vincent had full parts with great footage, but all of their parts have at least some signs hodgepodge editing.

Cyrus's part actually ended with a nice bit of editing to Thin Lizzy's "still in love with you". After his 50 to 50 on the curved rail to rail, he puts his head in his hands while the lyrics say, "my head, it keeps on reeling". Reminded me of Strobeck's "white on white" Bauhaus sync. Unfortunately it might be the only moment of good editing in the whole video.
