Industrial / Dark Techno
« on: September 24, 2019, 03:15:29 AM »
Living in Berlin, techno feels like it's infiltrating my life so I'm attempting to get into some genre within it I don't think utterly sucks. I've got some friends who are into the "industrial/hard/EBM" stuff. Of it I don't think this guy is so horrible:
https://soundcloud.com/schwefelgelb

Not really industrial or even techno I guess but this dude DJ's and I dig it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODwZzMLv7zU

Closest I naturally get to techno is probably something electronic/electroclash:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5-Zgqo0w9Y

Something I keep wondering about techno fans is wtf do they refuse to listen to anything else? More into new wave/post punk these days personally.

But yeah, based on that, any hard / dark / industrial /whatever techno music someone who's actually into would recommend?

I grabbed this LP in 2012. This is my favorite track on the record.

Damn, you guys all posted rad shit. I don't think anyone else has shown me anything as good. Maybe they just have shitty taste in techo? Or maybe we have some weird skateboarder musical preferences bond?

Youth Code is fucking sick. It's a combination of things I never thought could be combined so well.

Just a general fan of older Hospital Productions stuff but I think some of the earlier, rougher Vatican Shadow tracks fit here.

Glad you like it OP

I would love for rivethead or electronic goth music (like skinny puppy) to become popular again hopefully that happens

Here’s another one

Alberich (from the same comp I posted the VS track)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=riH3VpdGHgA

Bronze Age (Alberich side project)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AWPBMtH8mnY

Christian Cosmos
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DXtUBaZryQs

I really love their compilations and a bunch of the more PE stuff they've done (Force Publique Congo, FFH, etc) but that's a whole other can of worms.

Edit: I'd highly recommend the comp that a couple of those tracks were pulled from, "White Eye of Winter Watching" as well as the comp
"Around the Dragon's Broken Neck Hangs the Medal of Saint Lazarus" as good intros to the label.

I feel you on the infuriating nature of techno people being only into techno. Most of them were very into something else a couple years ago and are overcompensating.

Just found this: https://www.residentadvisor.net/events/1001919

Their label is having an event at the Berghain mid October. Might have to go to that one.

There's also this one I'm keen to check out because I'd like to make a trip to Georgia soon - https://www.residentadvisor.net/events/1323566

Not really in line with the stuff you guys are posting, but the self-titled Skin Crime LP is one of my all-time favourite albums. The reissue campaign Dom and co. have been on the last few years has been phenomenal too. That Noisembryo reissue is fucking top notch. The latest batch is Smell & Quim, Incapacitants, Masonna, and Slogun. Already ordered the S & Q and Masonna LPs.

That rules. I love skin crime and it gets me hyped when I find out that other people who are into this stuff skate and vice versa.

Yeah, very hyped to get that masonna. Been very into his more recent stuff as controlled death and it has made me revisit some of the other masonna material with fresh ears.

Material Sequence was a one-off project of Neal Samples from Tollund Men. I was revisiting this last night and forgot how heavy I was jamming this a few years back.

Also, Tollund Men are really worth checking out if you have not:

Cabaret Voltaire, the original sound of Sheffield, England. More like dark synth-pop than dark techno, but equal parts bouncy and fun to goth and gloom. Amazing lyrics/vocals from Stephen Mallinder as well as holding down funk/reggae bass lines. Radiation is some of their best work

Love that song!

I have a better session skating to music like this lately than heavy metal or hardcore

This is my favorite music thread. Corporate Park are sick and I get a special level of hyped when I find out other people who skate are into this stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBzUHD4RId0

Been listening to these Hospital Productions "Trans-Industrial Assembly" boxed sets during lockdown. Lussuria is always a favorite.

Would it mess up the thread if we included some more power electronics and noise-oriented stuff here too? There was an experimental thread a while back but it felt really focused on guitar-based drone and stuff like that.
