Concentrate on flipping the board instead of the shove it, shoving the board all the way around doesn't really work so you basically have to catch it at 90 then bring it down. Flick it hard like a backside heel but just using your legs instead of turning your shoulders. This trick is almost entirely front leg action. Remember to give it a little downward flick to keep it from flying into your nuts and to get the board out of the way of your legs quickly. Suck your legs back in quickly after the flick and catch it halfway then carry it back down. By the way, don't do it with your foot in pressure flip position, it really doesn't help.

when i do them i always put my foot even further towards the nose than for a regular heelflip. then i pop hard as hell while shuvin with my back foot and jumping forward with my legs spread wide. that probably made no sense, but it works.

also, eig is totally right about how hard it is to shuv it all the way around. Weird trick, way easier to do nollie inwards. Not nearly as stylish though.

I usually keep my front foot pretty close to the tail, not the nose, but definitely hang it off. What helped me learn them was when I figured out the back foot position. Put it right in the middle, maybe even with the toes hanging off a bit. Apparently others have a different technique then me, but mine works for me, but I kind of rip it around with my back foot, and flick it with the front foot. I let each leg do a different part of the trick, one does the shove it, the other does the flip. I always end up doing a bit of the crosslegged action too, if that makes any sense...
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out

i do 'em real ugly....i point my front toe inward...ball of my foot sort of in the middle of the board and just pop as hard as i can....i think it's the heelflip version of an illusion flip....fakie ones seem to work too....switch i usually just try to look as bad as possible in some sort of fairy jump and i usually land them....

I see them more like half cab heels than back heels, but that completly has to do with how you do both tricks.

Just set up high and make sure your front foot gets out of the way of the nose.

it's a good idea to start, for sure-

lean in with your front shoulder and make sure to ACTUALLY KICK the heelflip.

there is NOTHING worse (except maybe illusion flips)  than a retardedly pressure-flipped inward heel where the front foot goes all limp and ducks out of the way of the board.
