unpopular opinion: this is the best video we've seen so far this year

surprising that for a supreme video though, everyone mostly looked homeless instead of fresh

also who compares Cody Mac to Tyshawn!?

Speaking of zooms, have there been any successful attempts at incorporating the Hitchcock dolly zoom effect in skate filming?

I’m not, I have my own issues with supreme and this video, read those in this thread if you want.

It’s not filmed that bad and it’s really easy to focus on what’s going on after the first 2 clips.

It’s fine not to like it but to say it’s not watchable seems to me like an overstatement.

Say what you will about the video and bill but I give him a lot of credit for at least making something interesting (good or bad is besides the point).

You know what follows the ‘needs to be filmed better’ logic? The toy machine video, and that video was fucking boooooooring

Honestly I find the dream catchers and misappropriated flash iconography more off putting than the flag. At least with the flag he’s staying in his lane.

that foam roller part isn't memorable at all. i just watched it and can't tell you anything about it. so many memorable things in candyland. heel flip firecracker hill bomb, manual hill bomb, emb footage, that fakie manual thing at emb, kader's board slide and crook, tranny bs flip, etc..

who's going to forget this one

and contrary to what's being said in this thread the music and editing also makes it memorable. the way bill captured kader's back board is way more interesting to me than if someone just long lensed it form the photo angle.

Yeah, I agree. There are some incredibly nerdy takes in this thread. One nerd mentions pausing and not even being able to properly count the stairs? Who cares. Some real Cartesian shit thrown around here. Bill makes skating look cool and his work always has feeling. That's what really matters.

I get that the closeups and editing CAN make a clip memorable. But when it's used every other clip, it loses it's impact. It's like when you highlight every line when you're studying for school or how JJ Abrams used to put lens flares on everything. The technique becomes more of a crutch than a tool. It becomes a parody, at least for me.

It's working tho, and everyone's eating it up so what do I know. Then again, everyone was eating ty evans shit up back in the day so time will tell in terms of longevity.

The filming definitely doesn’t do the spots justice, but I actually like Bills filming style. Seeing the anxious look on that dudes face before the hill bomb second to last clip makes it gnarlier. Same with Kaders boardslide.
