This is from drop 1, when I saw these originally I though "Oh! these sort of look like Quasi graphics"

and now, this is drop 2

Thought it's really poor taste imho. i get that companies get inspired by older companies and graphics, but to straight up rip off one of your peers isn't a great look

Already focused. Nice. The comparison is pretty obvious though

I like wknd but goddamn this is heinous. even the clothing is strikingly similar. very disappointing, and I genuinely like alexis sablone. up till now I dig a lot of the art she's done.

Sablone's designs are quasi-Quasi.

I don't get it.

You spend all that money on creating a skateboard brand.  Most brands are printed on the same wood that comes from a handful of woodshops.

The only thing that makes you stand out is the way you market yourself and the graphics >

Wknd? make the same graphics as another company.
What the actual hell...

They did this with FA too a while back.

Usually when something like this gets brought up among friends I err on the side of giving latitude to whoever's being called out for biting. After all, no one exists in a vacuum, especially when it comes to art. But that's pretty indefensible.

Also, one post/thread and focus? Someone from Quasi making their displeasure known on the sly?

I don't get it.

Exactly why I didn't understand why everyone loved this Carpet board so much.

Just laziness and lack of originality.

I'm still unsure on how WKND ripped off FA to begin with. Was it the shapes/wood? I believe the shapes FA use were based off of old AWS shapes. Which is what Quasi also uses, which makes sense. WKND has the same exact shapes as well, but not sure if that's what people are referring to when they say they ripped off FA. I can't recall any WKND graphics that were similar to FA ones.

Those new graphics are bemusing. For a company that is known for it's creativeness, there is no real excuse to just straight up release boards that look exactly like another companies. I find it hard to believe that at some stage during proofing or pre-production nobody went "Uh, these look exactly like Quasi graphics".

I can respect the argument against, but I'd also say the Zero graphic was nearly 20 years old when Carpet released that, plus, they weren't hiding it or claiming any originality of the art itself. But again, I get it if people aren't down with it. I'd also point out Carpet being two dudes in a basement versus WKND who sell at every Zumiez in North America.

They did some boards with some old cars/women/cigarettes collages. And also a few boards with a 'framed' picture on a board. Basically exactly something that FA would do, and didn't really fit WKND.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of FA graphics and I think Dill is overprotective of keeping his 'cool'.
But the man definitely had a point when he said that they were ripping off FA...

True, sometimes a good and obvious  'spoof' is cool.

Yeah, would agree that sometimes a spoof is cool. One that stands out to me is when AntiHero did the Quasi ripoff:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BHf9AohDydP/?taken-by=quasiskateboards

I just feel if you're going to spoof, you might as well go all in, and not just change one word.

But this WKND series doesn't feel like a spoof, it just feels lazy.

Yes agreed.

Like I said, that differs.

I wonder if Quasi is going to call WKND out like they did with Anti Hero
(which absolutely wasn't a collab right?).

WKND and Quasi are relatively new brands. Sucks to see one bite the other. But Carpet stealing from Zero, a brand that's been around for 20+ years is just funny because it's obvious what their intentions were

Wowwwwww lmao, so bad! That one with the blue overlays looks just like that Quasi board. Few years ago one of my locals ran shop decks that were blatant Quasi rips and they told them so (Quasi).

Nothing was funnier to me than anit-hero using zoomed in butt-holes to comment on the overly artist hype that was those first runs of Quasi.

IMO some older WKND decks ripped off old Quasi... Mother decks, with the half woodstain/half solid graphic.

the quasi-like boards are designed by Alexis AND Alia Huffman

i have to admit they look really similar.... but Quasi didn't invent photo collage...

It's not that it's collage it's the style and even some colorways it's too specific.

If quasi's didn't have such goofy wheelbases, I would get one. I have a wknd basic logo board right now and another one on the deck.
