Wayward Wheels - legit or shit?
« on: November 07, 2019, 11:52:04 AM »
Anyone skate a set of Waywards? Are they comparable to F4, STF and OJ Elite? You'd think with such a dope team Wayward is a premium wheel, but those guys could all be skating Spitfire on the DL for all we know.

They flat spot much easier than STFs and F4s. They also lack a decent variety of shapes.  Wheel formulas have come a long way in the last twenty years though so it’s rare to see a wheel that’s shit.

At the $30 price point I’d recommend sticking with F4&STF for hard wheels and OJ&Ricta for soft wheels.

I’ve heard they’re not that good.

Miles Silva’s has been seen riding F4’s exclusively, even though he’s on Wayward.

You can find them for $30 all the time... at most $38. I usually see them between $30-35.  Zumiez has Classics for $29.99 right now and Tactics has them for $29.95 along with every other F4 for $34.99.  Tactics has STFs between $27.95 and $34.95.  Sooooo.....

If you’re spending $30 on Waywards why not just spend $5 more for wheels that will skate better and last way longer?  Otherwise just get some $15-20 wheels.

54mm 103a STF V1s for $27.95:

52-55mm 103a STF V4s for $29.95:

52 and 55mm 103a STF V5s for $27.95:

52mm 99a Formula Four Classics for $29.99:

54mm 101a Formula Four Classics for $29.99:

There's way more than that too, that's just a quick example.

Same deal with Bledsoe, still listed on the Wayward site but he's always rode Spits.

I had a pair, they weren’t terrible per se BUT I rode them after getting hooked on F4s so my expectations for them were very low...
They’re whiter than F4s but other than that they’re  inferior in pretty much every aspect

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

Brophy bums me out so much. I’d never want to support him, so there’s no way I’d ever try Wayward. F4s exist anyway. No need to buy any other wheel.

Unless you’re filming, cruising or riding extra crusty shit.  I find Easy Street STFs to slide less on Skatelite and also handle crud easier.  99a F4s work in indoor parks and that’s what I use now due to the variety of shapes but they slip out easier.  If you want extra narrow wheels with a small contact patch the V3 STF shape is great as well.  Clouds, Keyframes and Juices for cruising and filming.

The issue with Wayward is that they are far too expensive for their standard quality. If they were half the price, it could be a good deal, but for the same price as Spitfire F4s, well ....

I agree

The quality does not match the mark up

They aren’t trendy and cool

The formula feels like a stiffer spit classic

They just aren’t worth the price

Like legit feel like 100a standard wheels
yes
