What happened to Figgy

Such a big scar can happen if they have to remove it immediately... Usually you get three small scars, but if they have to rush the process, because it has already burst, then you can end up with a big scar like this...

Could also be from skating though... Maybe a hard slam on the concrete and some busted kidneys.

This. Plus scars weren't even that big 30 years ago, your appendix is pretty small. They can usually do them laparoscopically and there's almost no scars at all. I can't even find mine.
