Not one of my usual setups but I won this Mini Logo 8.25 from a giveaway. I was going to just give it to a kid at the park but the shape looked interesting so I thought I would give it a shot. It was the most consistent sesh that I've had in years. I literally couldn't believe how easily I was landing stuff

nice, i saw a blank board once and it looked thick, like it was a 8 ply board, but i thought that 139's and 147's works better for 8.25's than 149's, and whats with the shape anyway?
The board is 7ply and it feels like the same thickness as any regular board that I've had. This is the first time that I've skated 139's on an 8.25. I always used 149's or Theeve 8.25's.
The shape is really interesting. It's an 8.25 over the front trucks and an 8.125 over the rear. If I remember correctly, Magenta's Generator shape is similar.
The tail is the biggest difference and what made me want to try the board. Powell describes it as "a scoop tail for a more secure foot placement without feeling trapped". Basically there is a large flat section after the rear truck holes before the tail kicks up. There's an interview with Paul Schmitt where he describes this is the leverage point on boards and more flat gives you more control. This has a crazy amount of flat before the kick though.
Anyways, it's incredibly easy to control flip tricks and manuals. I stood on it and did a perfect, effortless kickflip then tried to do the same on my 8.38 Toy Machine and it looked like shit.
The entire day could have been a total fluke. I'll find out when I skate tomorrow but overall I'm pretty stoked
