Well there was the guy we thought was a time traveler's apprentice but he was just from Venezuela and there wasn't anything funny about that part, so I wanted to make sure this guy isn't from an Eritrean fishing village or something before I wonder aloud what the fuck he was thinking posting that thing

Been thinking about picking up one of those decks, how're the 55's on it? Didn't know if it would need 66/169's or if 55/159's would suffice.
[close]
55s are perfect. If you use wide wheels they might hot dog a tiny bit. But the skinny tablets and any classic shape wheels should be fine. I skated it a little today. It’s not flat at all, which I like. The nose is small but I was still able to noseslide and get into some nose mannys. Nollies and Fakie ollies worked too. Gonna try for some fakie flips next sesh, my knee was super sore today.
[close]

Thanks man. The shape looks real similar to the Dane Polar shape which I've always dug. I'll definitely check it out.
[close]
Which Dane? I got a 1991 Boserio and I'm waiting for 55s to arrive. I was told that 66 were like Indy 215, horrible turning feeling

The Dane 1 shape shares some similarities with the Alien Visitor re-issue shape. The Alien definitely has a more pointed nose (and is slightly more tapered in the middle). The super short wheelbase of the Dane 1 has always kept me away from it though. Also, feel free to tell me I'm talking out of my ass if you don't think the shapes look similar.

How’d you come up so hard? I bought the one from a local and then didn’t ride it for months, by the time I got to it and really liked it I couldn’t find anymore. Ended up getting a few great boards from the plug in Boston. Still wanted more of those tae’s tho

I convinced someone to trade me a used one(currently skating still) and I loved the deck so much. I don’t really care for the graphic it’s the shape and concave I love most.
Looked everywhere and no one had them  :'( I dm lots of people asking to sell. Picked up one from recent visit to LA at a random Skateshop. Someone shipped me one from Europe. Finally found a distro that had a few laying around and cleaned house lol

Felt like it was surprising as I ‘looked’ as well, months ago.
Compliments on your persistence.
Biggest/best flex.
Nothing against the graphic or skater, it’s all about the shape. Has the sheffey ‘toy soldier’ tail, and flat flat. I actually wish the board was wider and a 1/4 inch longer, but it’s still super fun. If anyone sees something else this flat, in almost any size, please let me know.

Don’t want enough to pay $80. But thank you for the heads up. The hi tek boards are sick, flat, and a more reasonable size, for me. Even back then I never skated the best on the smaller boards, despite obsessing over them. Definitely had the small kalis shape, the small wenning, and this tiny Andy stone board that was sick.

I skate my raw with 5.0 lows. Please.

I have a vintage set of 5.0 venture lows i want to use but I hate the way tiny trucks turn and grind. I however want to find a 7.4 x32 and set up the 5.0
I’ve seen plenty of videos from that era skinny toothpick boards with wheels sticking out

Drake Jones definitely mentioned skating a 7.5 with 139s in this "what the pros ride" article from like 96/97.

100 percent Drake! I’ve set up several skinny boards with 139s for this reason/look. Stevie’s Indy’s looked the same to me (wider than board).
It’s pretty rad how much/quickly things changed back then, as opposed to now.
The 5.0’s, with bones and the bones washers, turn pretty quickly. Especially if you are using those 45’s. Narrower trucks turn much quicker (obviously, but I am always surprised for some reason when I set them up and experience it, probably because I used to make sure they wouldn’t turn). I also skate way better on 8” trucks. From 7.5 to 8.25 8” trucks and I’m gonna actually, maybe, might be landing some shit. And my shit I mean shitty flips going shitty slow.

Dbl post lameness! I kinda sorta remember that 129s weren’t a thing around that time. False? We would skate Indy’s but I felt like we were bummed they weren’t small enough or something. And were maybe psyched when they came out with 129s for one of the stages. Could be totally wrong.

Eritrean fishing village is so so so fucking good.

Some sick set ups, particularly that Kelch flyer and Alien rad shape.

You are correct about them not being made at the time. I believe he said something like, "Indy 139s (129s if they made them)." I think 129s came back with whatever the next stage was. I wish I still had that magazine (Skateboarder one-off anniversary issue with JOAB-era Bam dropping in on the cover).

edit: this was the cover if anyone has it and wants to scan the article in question...

you are correct. when I started skating in 2001, Indy were on the stage 8. The smallest they made was a 136, I wanna say around 2002 they cane out with a 126? I remember being psyched cause I started off skating 7.75” also remember when destructo came out with a 7.5” truck. Lmao
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.
