8.5 14”WB
Ace AF1 44’s
1/16” Ace shock pads
54mm 99a classics
Bones Super Swiss 6 Balls

That short eagle is the exact board I want to set up next. You’ll have to update after a couple sessions on how it feels

303 boards has the 8.5 and 8.75 for 30% off. I think it was 43$ I just copped the 8.75

Just curious, what benefits does that truck combo offer? Why not just whole indys or aces?

@palach303 it's mostly because I like the inverted kingpin and needed a wider truck so instead of buying new indys I just used some Ace hangers I already had. I don't run a bottom washer so they're super turny and they skate really well  ;D

back on an 8.25 Polar and feeling good again.

Polar 8.25
Venture 5.6
Spitfire FF 53
quantum atoms
Pepper grip

my last board was a blank that I spraypainted, but I put too many layers of paint and it felt really heavy, dead, and off balance.  When I went to change it, I stripped a couple bolts, and lost my shit trying to drill out the bolts and ended up with this:

accidentally cut through the baseplate, so it was all for naught.  luckily I had an extra set of baseplates in a box.  lucky i didn't lose a finger or a hand, i was swinging the recip around like I was in Texas Chainsaw Massacre

That Setup looks awesome. How you like the Polar 8.25?

And mate, how many layers of paint went on that other deck? That looks dangerous. I usually do one layer of spraypaint.

i put way more than I usually do.  i spraypainted some dumb shit that I regretted, and went back to paint over it, and it was just too much.  i barely broke through to the woodgrain after nosesliding all day.

word of advice: don't overdo the paint.  it'll make your board feel warped and waterlogged

Polar 8.25 feels great.   a little long for my taste, but just feels right to me.  Went up from an 8.0 and wish I'd done it sooner (just wish I didn't still have two 8.0 killing floor decks still in the shrink that I don't know what to do with)

I don’t know shit about anime but that whole setup/pink/tail collage is tight.

I honestly didn’t know the zero two fandom was alive and well in 2022. This just reminded me how behind on anime I am.

The VX deck I set up just under a month ago feels the same as it did on day 1. Genuinely impressed. That said I swapped my old trucks and bearings over to this Evisen non-football double taper board with some radial fulls. I didn't get to skate once over the long weekend because of a brush with food poisoning. The silver lining is that my local weekday/night flat ground and curb spot just got repaved while I was sick

8.8x31.4 14'' wb that tapers significantly
58mm Radial fulls
Bones Swiss freshly cleaned and lubed
Thunder 148's that are on their second life
Real 3 ply risers

prob really good for impossibles
fuck you bama

Dude! Getting sick from food poisoning is not sick. Hopefully you are getting well.

This setup looks hot. Evisen boards are very eye catching. I liked the one I had (very basic 8.25 with a 14” wb).

Is the vx still the go to? Any negatives?

This is high praise coming from a man with impeccable taste. Bad news though, it snapped first session. This is the second bbs in a row to explode on me with less than 6 hours of skating on it.

The VX is my go to. I went all in on them and got several. The lightness of the setup seems to take substantially less effort to skate. It feels easier to warm up, and to skate harder longer. At the rate that I skated this past month I probably could've been on my second board by now. There's a couple negatives though I'd say; they'll still razor tail, the graphics aren't the best, which isn't the end of the world, and they make a regular 7 ply board feel "off". My top tier least favorite combo has to be new shoes with an old board. My KSL's are nearing the end of their life so I either have to make them last longer, or prematurely  set up a new board and give this one away

The most I got to skate that Evisen board was the 30 feet from the bottom of my stairs to my car this morning

Thanks for the review!
Great now I ‘need’ one of these. I’ve not been real hyped on SC shapes (or graphics), but now I just skate whatever and it’s all about the same, ish (meaning I can usually adjust, and I’m just not good so it doesn’t matter as much).

My nephew likes to lay claim to my decks when I visit family and when he visits me (with my permission of course). That said, after this weekend’s claiming, I set up a new one:

Santa Cruz Dressen 9.3
Ace 55s
58mm OJ 101a Mini Combo
Bronson Raw
