8.25* Crail Perez twin on the new BBS wood
Brand damn new Venture 5.6 V-Hollow with flat top washer that comes with Bones Hardcores + stock bushings**
52mm OG Classics
Swiss
Pepper
Girl longnecks

Bummed I won't be able to skate this for weeks/month or more due to a minor hamstring pull and pain at the top of foot/ankle.

*Double bummed that actual measurement shows <8.25. And most bummethed Crail switched to BBS. Giving this a shot because I love all the G069s I've had but if the new wood is like other BBS, this will be the last.

**Tried my usual Indy orange cylinders, broken in, then Bones Hardcores (medium), new, and surprisingly neither turned as well as Venture stocks. This is my first time ever on Ventures.

[close]
Just wanted to update this as I'd heard from a guy with connections at BBS, said they're not doing Crail boards. Still hazy on where Crail is currently sourcing, whether PS or still China shops or a mix or ??
[close]
It’s definitely BBS for the last drop in the US, but probably China for other drops or every other country. I know they used PS for stuff like the Hello Kitty decks in the past, but have no idea about other countries.

I don’t know what’s happening with future drops. They’ll probably go with whateve gives them the highest profit margins.

My McCrank G096 (8.5” TT) had the same sticker as the Loveseat+ decks:

[close]
Yeah one I posted has the same sticker but still unclear which woodshop they'll land at. How'd that G096 ride for you?

The plot thickens... What about the little divot on the top ply in that photo? My understanding is that it's been a long-time indicator a deck is from BBS?

I got a couple of the JKJHNSN guest boards from Ampersand Pound (Scumco). Their site lists them as 8.375, but they are definitely 8.5.

When I first got it, I thought it looked wider, but I put my normal Ace 44s on it like I had for other 8.375 and it was severely magic carpeting. Measured it with a digital ruler and it's totally 8.5.

Just in case anyone cared.
[close]
I too recently purchased a JJ board from &# and noticed the board is wider than advertised. Not a deal-breaker for me; my 149s will fit. The new Pennswood concave looks very nice, looking forward to setting it up.

Oh once I put on some 55s, it skated like a dream. Great board. Will get another.

I find it funny sometimes how certain brands will deny or not want to confirm where the boards come from, or even some woodshops don't want to make it known, but this is pretty much confirmed - Crail is using BBS wood - the look with the top dimple between bolts, the custom BBS spoon shaped kicks and particular concave, the feel of those boards for those who have skated them, the warning sticker with Made in Mexico...

Sure there are various things here which can be copied, or outsourced, or even made to look and feel the same, but I really think it is a little past denials and questioning the product now.

People can make up their own minds any which way, but I think it is pretty plain to see, especially in person.

Barely been skating lately because winter

Acrylic on 8.25 BBS
Indys
Lock in classics 52mm 99a
Reds
Asstd @Allen. hardware ft. three gold/silver one black for the front truck

This one took about two hours or so, I think. I skated the official version in 2009 or so and landed my first 360 flip on it.

Right, it's pretty clear looking at the Chocolate in person especially when I compared it to all my other previous Crail decks I have in a stack. Like others I'm just curious if BBS is their official new landing spot indefinitely but I guess that's tbd.

I just got mine this morning and measured it. It's pretty much dead on 8.375. It looks really nice, I'm hyped to set it up. Don't think I've ever tried Pennswood before.

Flip’s been whack for almost two decades, but there are exceptions…

Flip Penny 8.13
Venture 5.6 V8s with Loopholes

I used to love old Flip shapes. I remember when I moved up to 8 a lot of those boards were Artos and Appleyards. Never had a Penny but better late than never.
glad to see I’m not the only one clinging on to NFG loopholes …

Yeah totally! I actually threw some that I skated and barely skated (cracked) up in the garage the other day. The ‘Sonic’ graphic in the garage is way better than the one I’m skating but I painted it upside down on a warped board…

I'm more curious about which concaves they use. Jacuzzi and Opera are almost entirely mellow concave steep kick. I'm looking for a more medium medium, or medium steep.

I believe all are r7. The ones I’ve had have been mellow concave and the steep kicks, though there are some marked DEEP CONCAVE on their site as well.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to skate it. I’m itching to especially since it’s sooo close to spring!
Honestly I can’t even remember why I first started to make them aside from just wanting to skate a board I was really really stoked to look at the bottom of. I’d been doing gnarly sticker jobs with blanks for years and I just wanted to skate some boards that I like window-shopped for in middle school haha. I just wanted one other nerd like me to trip out if they saw a few frames of the pappalardo match guy graphic in a clip I get. It dawned on me too that that’s what Panebianco does with those Kalis LOVE decks etc

Hook ups 7.5 with pepper grip (there was a black magic drought for a bit) not a big fan of the graphic but the shape of the board is nice.
Venture 5.2 low
Spitfire f4 classic 50s with swiss 6 bearings.

Pretty fun board.

All the ingredients to make the best heelflip tricks shown here imo. The 5.2s on a 7.5 always worked better than it sounds aloud or looks. The shellies paired with this setup is perfection too.

Baker 8.25 OG shape
56mm Formula 4 Conicals (99s)
Venture standards
Bones hard bushings with one medium bushing street side on the top truck
Grasshoppers.

Loving this set up - the shape is great. Sized down from skating 8.5s/8.4s last year and am really enjoying it so far.

Lock in classics 52mm 99a
Reds
Asstd @Allen. hardware ft. three gold/silver one black for the front truck

This one took about two hours or so, I think. I skated the official version in 2009 or so and landed my first 360 flip on it.

I would honestly pay money to go to a Allen Workshop gallery.

Sometimes I wanna go thru your post history and see your older ones but idk almost seems a lil invasive but if I have your blessings I def would

Yeah totally! I actually threw some that I skated and barely skated (cracked) up in the garage the other day. The ‘Sonic’ graphic in the garage is way better than the one I’m skating but I painted it upside down on a warped board…

And this one I completed last year but didn’t want to skate while trying to perpetually shake rust off

I like the idea of one of em skated n one mint that’s impressive man, kudos for thinkin of the idea and executing it dummy good.
The Paps one is so good def don’t blame you on holding off on that one, you think you’ll end up skating it?
Also what made you start doing em
[close]

Oh snap you’re right that is what Panebianco does I remember that now.
I didn’t get to the shop much but I always loved the AWS/Habitat line ups on ccs it’s sick seeing em on actual boards in 2026
Thanks for chatting with me man, if you ever do an exhibition I hope to be there lol
