shit low light photo, classic

National 8.125 x 32 14.25wb
Venture 5.6, supercush 90a, flat washer
Dialtone Aaron Herrington 52mm 99a conicals
Mini logo bearings, pig risers, jessup, crew sticker.

Hopefully get to skate it tomorrow and see how it feels. Dropped from 8.25 to 8.125 and from 54 stf's (which were around 51mm if i had to guess) to 52s. Been very tempted by this thread (specifically the guy skating 7.875s) to size down more, but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. Weird to think this time a year ago I was on 8.6's and couldn't see myself ever dropping below 8.5.

For anyone curious I had the first skate on it and the dimensions/shape are pretty damn good. I've always sucked at having consistent kickflips and would often fuck them up, but today they worked perfect, same with fakie flips. Ended up learning fakie bigflips too. Dunno how well the dimensions/shape would fair on other trucks, but for me it's brilliant.

Dialtones are pretty nice too, had no qualms with riding them after being on spf's for a year. Nothing super extravagant about them, nothing bad either. Decent slide on tricks that need it, no unwanted slip outs. Will see how they fare.

I should really take pictures during the daytime.

Still running the skate sk8 his, I see. I am still intrigued bit want to try them in a shop somewhere. And nice Mantis sticker, they are the homies.
Yeah, I compulsively change boards, but I hold onto shoes forever. The mantis dudes are super chill. Wish I had more time to hang around, but I'm leaving on Friday.

I like the shape of those OJs. Still going back and forth on whether I want to pick up some 58mm 99a hardlines... hope they ride well!
Kinda love hate with the OJs right now. The curb spot I'm skating right now is entirely the cobbles in the photo, so the extra contact patch of the hardline or my loophole Vs would be welcome. I feel super tough on them though.

I was honestly expecting that Real and National decks to be the "crayon poop" graphics being discussed. Not the AWS I'm drawing the fucking line

I like the look of that. Always thought 144s would be too short for 8.5 decks, but they look good here.

They‘re certainly on the short side but I rode them with an 8.5 before and it was fine. I prefer magic carpet to hot rod (less likely to primo) but might put on some broader wheels eventually.

How many washers are you running on each inside of the wheels?

Lol that's not an exact quote but close enough. Knew I'd strike a chord with that one. I'll concede that I already hate the AWS graphic, I only got it because it was cheap and the right size.

However I'll stand by the Element one that I'm currently using. I like the art style. It's not just [hip brand name] printed next to a picture of a random inanimate object, photoshopped together in 2 minutes.

April 8.5
Thunder 149ers with Bones bushings, new Reds 3 washers on the inside, spacers
Krooked risers, Diamond bolts
56mm 85a Arrow softies
Modus grip
White leather 77 blazers

I can’t do hard wheels anymore. I’ve been skating hard as fuxk wheels my whole life (except the 80’s) and a while back I took my cruiser out for a normal skate and am hooked. I don’t skate parks and don’t get buck anymore so hooning around, curbs and hills on softies is the move. Anyone else in the softies camp? And yes, I’m old 😆

I find myself skating my cruiser a lot these days just because how great the 56mm keyframes feel on all the cutty spots I like. I've been considering just throwing a set on my main but get self conscious about not being able to really slide on them.

Lolz. They have the longer oval holes in them so you can slide them up or down to fit whichever truck you are using, vs. fixed hole risers.

I loved mine but they went from 56 to 48 in like 3 months. Maybe I'm being stubborn but it irks me a bit. Not saying I won't get some 58s next time I need wheels though.
