AWS 8.75
Venture cast 6.1
55mm F4 tablets
Modus bearings
Shop grip

Love the shape but not the biggest fan of the  AWS “spectrum” graphic so got rid of it and painted some pink stripes. Feels good to be back on a fuller board with a small wb after skating consecutive eagles.

Was a bit nervous coming off of well worn in classics, but the pinch with these tablets is great.

Gnar'd for DIY graphic and Carpet shot.

What‘s the story behind that grip job?
Keeping the tip of the nose bare keeps my thumb from getting scratched up while throwing down, and backing the grip off the toe side edge minimizes how much grip I have to cut.

8.5 with 55 Classics and 60mm and not too much hot rodding?

Well alright.
Enjoy your life.

Girl 8.25 (G052 Malto shape)
Venture 5.6 hollow
Spitfire f4 54mm 99's
Bronson bearings
Modus hardware 7/8
Jessup ultra

This board skates great super crisp and poppy, not a huge fan of the .25" taper to the tail but that's a minor as its only a visual thing and doesn't affect the way it skates.

just ordered myself a 8.25 twin (G069) for when this one calls it a day, no taper and pretty much the same specs.
hope they keep it in production!

Nice. I’m on a very similar setup, even down to the grip job. I’m putting AF1 55s on it once I get a set but for now, the classic 55s on an 8.5 are doing the job just fine. Nice looking rig.
I only skate prime numbers, so it's either 53s or 59s, feast or famine

Black on Black I guess

Studio (old run) 8.25 / 14.25WB / N6.875 / T6.5 I love this shape and wood. Funny story they refunded me 3$ (I tried to refuse, it was a 5% discount on an already discounted 66$ CAD board) because the deck had been roughed up and wasn't in it's original sealed plastic wrapping (not really messed up at all as you can see, I applied wax to nose and tail).
Jessup
Venture 5.6 Stock (loose enough when its warm out)
F4 Classic 55mm probably still 55

Good setup. If I recall correctly the malto shape has a long tail, that must be nice with the steepness of Crail tails and the ventures.

Have you ever felt the "tinnyness" of the Hollow baseplate? Idk if you've skated Cast before

Imo yes definitely. I loved venture 5.6/5.8 on bigger wheels for ledges. I recently tried 5.2s raws with 52mm Spitfire classics and had a hard time locking into smiths and even finding my balance to fs pop shuv out of 5050s (illegal I know, but gimme a break). Bigger wheels def help especially if the ledge you're skating is kinda rounded out.

Edit: I should mention that anything bigger than 54mm is big for my old tired ass legs

Damn this setup got me thinking of setting up a G052 on some Ventures.

Venture Forged definitely felt more tinny and rattle-y than cast, threw me off for a bit.

Edit: +1 for the floor tiles

i skated two 8.25 chocolate boards just before the pandemic and loved them but could never find that same feeling in other decks on forged ventures. i tried quite a few diff woodshops during my year long madness era and really liked the deluxe boards, they skated good but my body didn't get on with the short tails as they always made my legs super tired after a good session whereas the crail boards don't seem to do that. funny how you end up coming back full circle with these things.

'you started this madness you shall end this madness.' haha

the 6.8 tail length plus the steepness and the short wheelbase combo seems to be a sweet spot for my long legs on ventures.

i always had cast until i started to use v-lights and hollows, i switched out from 101's to 99 spitfires and it took away that tinny feel as it seems to absorb the vibrations better through the thinner base plate plus they seem to slide better on chunky ledges as there's less to catch.

Edit: +1 for the floor tiles (the apartment floor when i stayed in Amsterdam while i was travelling through the Netherlands, perfect for a set up pic)

I’ve had a lifelong allegiance to the “if you can’t jump up it don’t jump down it” mentality, so it’s no surprise to me that my knees are still sore after skating primarily stairs and drops a few days ago. I had set up another VX deck yesterday but the stiffness was making my left knee sore. I’ll go back to it in a board or two

For now:

Thunder 148 titanium lights
53mm F4 classics
Swiss ceramics

R-fskate measurements say the dlx 8.25 actually measures 8.38. Would you say that’s true?

If you have any experience with it, how does it compare to the navy eagle?

Measured it with calipers and it is true and also the same as the generic BBS 8.38 shape found in many, many brands.

I just measured this one and another one I have. They might not be a perfect 8.25, but they’re a hair under 8.3. Too small of a variance to ever notice. I measured a Limo 8.38 that I have for comparison. That one sits at 8.38ish. Unfortunately I can’t say anything about the blue eagle. I haven’t skated a board that big for a “normal” setup in over a decade
