Sure that set up might annoy some people but oddly enough, I dig it. The monochromatic theme saves it, in spite of Krux being paired with Limosine hahaha

Hope the ride treats ya well and the Krux actually turn! Their stock bushings are supposed to be really good tho. Not sure if they still are but that's all I heard over the years as a redeeming quality to the trucks

Just been out for a cruise around and honestly they turn fine, i ride my trucks loose, they’re wobbly but feel sturdy which is nice! I usually skate ventures but I’ve also skated aces and Indy, I’ve never skated a truck that doesn’t turn, just trucks that turn differently :)

I remember watching Louie Barletta back in the day being one of the wobbliest and most expressive skaters and that was on K4s which famously “don’t turn”

recently grabbed that deck too, it's a GREAT shape!

There was a point where I was exclusively skating this shape. Been awhile but it feels like home :)

@pizzafliptofakie how steep is the nose? I can't remember if it was steep or not. Is the tail long as well?

it's not that steep. It honestly kinda just feels like a middle ground between a regular tapered board and one of those super square full shaped boards a lot of brands are doing.

The only reason I cared about Krux was because of Cairo, so nice he's not skating for then anymore.

Fair, I think they’re an important team just because of the inclusivity and it’s quite nice to still have a few brands out there who don’t take themselves too seriously, anyway, I’m trying them out today, I might be back in a few hours saying FUCK KRUX THEY DONT TURN!

But how bad can they reeeeeeally be? (Potential foreshadowing)

Ryan Lay rides Krux and seems pretty swervy. They seem to have the same height/wb as Indy's but a bit different of a turn. Their bushings are supposed to be great too.

Do you recall what number it was I, II, III or IV on there?

I had a stand and skate on a I the other day - first time I have actually seen that shape in person - too steep for me, but the guy riding it was stoked, which was all that matters.

He had Indy forged ti trucks on it, which felt like it was a little light on the kicks, so I am thinking Thunder or Venture would feel way more normal on that board with the shorter wheelbase, like Mike Anderson's own setup.

I did like the length and shape of tail a lot too.

Funny thing is that Manderson has been sponsored by Thunder, Indy, and Venture while riding that shape.

So I just went looking for the Alex White video from a few months ago where they compare all the major brands to Krux and even the three Krux riders in the video admit that their trucks don't work as well as other brands, but unless you YouTube fu is bad, they appear to have scrubbed it from the internet.

I’m sure the 9” trucks turn well.
But I had a set of the K5 when they came out. My pivot cups popped out when I pulled them apart. I smushed them back and waxed the cup and tbh they got real turny.

Been loving a slightly longer wheelbase as a small/not very tall guy. I know the aces don't extend wb as much, but this is definitely the longest board I've ridden in years. Everything feels like it's got a little more "oomph" to it, and I feel like the longer board is making my kickflips better. I did feel a bit more sore than usual after a recent long session on it, I think just because it takes a little more work to pop/turn than what I'm used to.

Very nice setup. How do you like the 55s on that size? I was looking at buying an 8.75 Polar deck (the latest Jamie Platt one) and didn't want to change trucks, currently on Indy 149s. I've skated a 8.625 on 149s in the past, but never 8.75. I also do have some 169s on my cruiser/filmer setup though, so worst case scenario I could set up some harder wheels on those too.

I actually really love this amount of magic carpet, the leverage for turning is great! The trade off is that in my experience, grinds and pivots on transition feel better when the board width is closer to the axel width. Like the balance/lock in points are closer to the end of your heel/toe so it feels a bit more natural I guess.

That Jamie Platt 8.75 looks niceeee

Yeah it does. My local just received a whole bunch of decks a this one is one I'm eyeing, along with a bunch of Limo boards in 8.5 and 8.6, as well as a Joe Buffalo guest Anti Hero deck (which seems to be the same dimensions as the 8.5 eagle, one of my all time favorite shapes, which I haven't skated in way too long)

Too many "I need that board" decks, which is a nice problem to have honestly.

My local also has an 8.75 eagle like yours, and the same Joe Buffalo deck in 8.75, but the dimensions seem a little big for my 5'8" ass unfortunately  :(

I've been very impressed with Limo's graphics and almost bought one instead of the eagle, too. My thinking was if I liked this deck, it'd be something consistent I can count on and keep coming back to. I'm boring with decks that way these days. Sounds like the 8.5 eagle could be the one for you, though people measure that one as narrower than 8 5 I guess.

I do wanna say though, I'm not much taller than 5'8 and weigh 145, straight bird bones. The big board is still feeling good!

Yeah, I might just go for it and find out for myself honestly. I like to skate fast and don't flip my board half as much as I used to. I seemed to have all my flip tricks on a 8.625 Polar and the 8.75 is only a hair longer from the measurements available online. Hell, I could do most of my flip tricks on a 1991 shape with 169s and 87a wheels although I had to pop from the tail even in nollie/switch, which I usually pop from the nose for.

Only reason I haven't tried 8.75 already is that I usually like my trucks to be either flush or a bit wider (I usually ride 8.38 or 8.5 on 149s) and am too lazy to break in 8.75 trucks because I freaking hate new trucks. Could be worth it though, either get 159s or start skating my 169s on 8.75 decks, which sounds pretty interesting tbh.

I had this exact setup but with 55 og classic wheels. It definetely was a fun setup! The magic carpet never really bothered me either. I feel like if i used af1 60’s or 66’s i would not be able to do any flip tricks, but the 55’s make it still tech

-  917 8.0 "Slick"
-  Indy Stage 4 136
- Grip from 917/BakerBoy Distribution
- 53mm Conical Fulls
- Bones Swiss
-  7/8" Philips Shorty's Silverados

I bought this deck for two reasons. Firstly, it was the smallest "Slick" I could find. As I mentioned, it's not your traditional slick. Secondly, I found it on sale for $45, including shipping.

I've never seen a 917 deck in the wild or in person, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of concave it offers. I'd been skating flat decks for a while, then back to FA's and now this, its a breath of fresh air. Yet still not as steep as the Foundation board I had. I need that angle gauge tp compare.

I can't resize. Sorry

Everything in the pic looks dope, Jean/shoe combo included.
I really dig the 8 bit symmetrical graphic with all the negative space too.
I got love for AO and loved the one 917 board that I did have (the 8.6” American Zero spoof graphic).

Everything in the pic looks dope, Jean/shoe combo included.
I really dig the 8 bit symmetrical graphic with all the negative space too.
I got love for AO and loved the one 917 board that I did have (the 8.6” American Zero spoof graphic).

Thanks! It was a bit tricky once I gripped it.. I had to pull out the tape measure to find the nose for the Silverado’s.

So this is basically Huffer but slightly wider? Same wheelbase etc?
