As rough as it sounds, it's really up to the skater to make sure you've got insurance. I believe some companies include it in the contracts but it's not the responsibility of the sponsor. You can't expect the company to jump in whenever the shit hits the fan.

My guess is, though, that Plan B is helping him in some way.

DC and PlanB should kick down money to help Pat out.  And Lost?  C'mon... the parent company of the beverage unit could easily afford the 60G.

sometimes the "things" and "friends" you enjoy the most, will hurt you the most, and play an ultimate factor in how you leave this earth.

A lot of people are asking why Plan B and your other sponsors aren't helping out. Can you clear the air on that?
Yeah; to clear that up, they’re totally helping. It’s cool ’cause everybody's been wanting to help me out. It’s nice to know that being cool to people all these years is coming back around, so thanks everyone, again!

This happens to nearly everyone injured. It's sad, especially for the guys that go big.

I read that interview and that's supposed to clear Plan B?

Fucking skating's a joke... NO sorry, the industry is a joke!

So if the companies are "helping out" with his bills, why are they still begging the skate community for handouts? It's all very pathetic, and I wonder why anyone would buy products from these companies when they can't even take care of their riders.
if you read that interview you'd see he's not begging at all. merely saying that one of his buds is throwing a party to help raise money to help a brother out.

he shouldn't even have to do that. It should be payed for and Pat should be offered a tm job or whatever if he can't skate anymore.
