Giving Back - Christmas
« on: December 05, 2019, 10:49:16 AM »
Anyone ever do a successful Skateboarding charity event or fundraising for kids around the Holiday or through the year?  I would love to do something this year and wanted to see what others have done.  Maybe donate to a local hospital, school or kid's home?  Maybe we can all do something in our respective areas this year...

If no one else is going to speak I'll have a go right.......?

So years ago in Petaluma, CA I had an idea when I was at a bike Co-oP build bikes and shit.

Or likely scenario #2 9x outta 10 someone is doing a food not bombs vegan/vegetarian meal sometimes a diy book library if you are friends with them.

So I had a rad idea of including a skate library where it's a build your own and if you have old gear you're not using it can be put on a used setup.

In part it'd be a lending library where you can hook someone up with a used deck for very little maybe a sheet of grip in total cost for a used complete.

Only downside is we'd ask for a donation of $5.00 as I would fund this either my own stash of boards or get a deal on some blanks we'd make a rad stencil and hook a lot of people up.

I've done this in Denver, West Palm Beach, Chattanooga.

Well I'll say this it was a rewarding effort but extremely time consuming and in some instances sketchy as we'd do this in various places that it could've gone worse as my vehicle was broken in to.

I applaud your effort but altruism these days sometimes could get you fucked up.....

I have since dialed it back to if someone is talented and they’re not blowing it by smoking or something else sketchy I’ll bless someone with some wheels or a deck.
