What did Danny Brady do?

Took them to spots in the middle of buttfuck nowhere so he could get clips when they could have been skating spots that everyone else wanted to skate. He says it very lightheartedly though

Shout out Blondey. Everyone that's met him has said he's always got time for them and is always really friendly

Insane that people are complaining about RAMBLING on a podcast. It's not even rambling, it's just details and good cadence / storytelling.

And it's shit I want to hear about. And it's a fucking podcast. I actually really like it when people explain their rapid fire answers. We should WANT to hear why a skater hates a certain trick or loves a video part or whatever.

I don't think they should rebrand to "Q/A" or something but maybe they should try to shift to "you have 3 seconds to answer" then you can explain your answer / defend it for however long (or switch answers because who cares at the end of the day).

I’m a big Blondey fan. He’s not for everyone but his answers about Edgelord and Bill had to have won some people over. Got me cackling.

Okay, I talked shit on dude before but he got some cool points publicly calling out Fat Bill and that wack company from that guy who has no credibility in skateboarding but is considered legit because he used to hang out with Mark Gonzales in New York in '94.

Blondey then admits that he will do the same thing now that he's in charge of running a company he's trying to get up to be a legit board brand so he's ironically in the same position he was complaining about.

I’m very impressed with Blondey’s skate mind and influences. He talks like he’s my age.

that was one of the better eps in a while, also was refreshing. Blondey is sick, his company is interesting but too pricey for me.

Just Americans bein American.

Nah as someone that actually lives in the UK, he speaks posh as fuck and it’s very obvious. I’d say 90% of the uk don’t speak like that so it’s not regular. It’s his upper class/rich upbringing and his ego/education.

Good pod tho, the edgelord/Fatt Bill hometruths were great

While I’ve never been a fan of his skating, I enjoyed this way more than I expected. I’ll take someone giving rambling answers over low effort, one-to-two word responses. At least he wasn’t afraid to actually voice his opinion where he felt it was necessary and the stories were entertaining.

i don't know if i'm the only one who feels this way but i've been having similar thoughts between this episode and the nikolai interview from last season. both are skaters i've felt sort of indifferent to personality wise, but once i heard them speaking i became instant fans of both. one is apparently too posh and the other is too brain-rot pilled (type shi) but at least they seem genuine and are willing to engage in conversation. i'll take take that over a 90s/2000s industry pro any day

The number one worst thing you can have is parents who live comfortably.   You’re automatically a trust fund kid (usually a spurious accusation but who knows in this case)

His father is a bit more than comfortable.

Artnet described him thus "The most powerful person in today’s art world, and the richest by a long shot, is somebody most of you have never heard of: Joe Hage".

And art isn't where he originally made his many millions.

Sorry?? Blonders is an Old Westminstrian. Our proud public school system produces gentlemen, thank you very much. Prime ministers, captains of industry, Supreme Court judges, visionairy auteurs. Not 'regular British guys'.

It doesn't matter who Blondey's parents are he got on Adidas and Palace because people saw his skating and liked his general demeanor. This isn't Tennis or Polo or some shit where the quality of your country club membership has a direct correlation to the opportunities you have.

I don't know how Thames is funded, but if he's bringing in Palace to help run it then it's definitely not his parents, who would likely want to put non skaters in there somewhere to not waste the profit.

He also talked about how he went to a fancy school and used to ditch school to skate South Bank in his uniform. He's not hiding shit. Like him or not the dude is himself.

*I myself did not grow up with rich parents or care much about Blondey but I found parts of this episode really candid and interesting.

If anyone has seen the movie Richie Rich, Blondey is Macaulay Culkin‘a character. Even though he’s rich, he doesn’t relate to his other posh classmates. So instead of faking it, he goes to play baseball with regular middle class kids in town and even dresses down to blend in and in the end everyone realizes that he was a normal kid all along  ;D

A heartwarming tale if there ever was one.

His pad is a bit too much for me, though I like the photo wall. My grandparents had something similar in their home. Surprised to discover his lady is Californian.

Anyway, I enjoyed the interview. I haven’t regularly listened in a couple seasons, as skaters answers and stories got pretty predictable and I lacked interest. At least Blondey’s got opinions he shares outright.

Blondey 100% has at some point considered using Pulp's Common People for a part, as an 'ironic' statement of self-awareness. He should've done actually. Good song. PJ's WHL showed that Britpop can work really well. They're back with an album as well. Sheffield's got some spots too. Yeah, fuck what I said. Go on son, a little Blondey in this year's SOTY run. Make it happen. Ender is a trick over the tracks at Hammersmith station, filmed perfectly stable with full view of Blondey, his board and his surroundings.
