Your top 3 films of 2019.
« on: December 26, 2019, 10:07:14 AM »
1. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
2. Crawl.
3 Brightburn.

Granted I haven't seen the new Star Wars yet but I'm not a huge fan so I doubt that'll make a huge difference.

What's everyone else got?

Feel like it wasn't the best year for movies - in no particular order.

Once upon a Time in Hollywood
Under The Silverlake
Buoyancy

Hoping to catch JoJo Rabbit tomorrow too.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark it was hokey and sometimes cheesey but that was my favorite books when I was a kid

Not really a 2019 movie but finally sat down and watched the Alejandro Jodorowsky films as a challenge to myself and felt great as his films make sense to me, especially The Holy Mountain

Rambo love that series, I know I know one does want a bit of action movies in between art films.

I remember I dated some chick who tried to defend the whole Jodorowsky raping his actresses for the purpose of filming their traumatized experiences and I cut that chick of quickkkkk

I thought this year kinda sucked for movies. I haven’t seen Parasite or Uncut Gems yet, and people say those movies are amazing.

1. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
2. Marriage Story
3. Last Black man in SF (never thought I would see Mike Epps and Andy Roy next to each other lol)

I find it weird that people watch that as entertainment.  If you do find that sort of thing appealing why not just go online or dark web and watch the real thing?

Word. Tbh I had no idea what I was in for. I like horror and I’m down for creepy/trippiness of Midsommar but can do without gore. Definitely no interest in seeing the real thing.

I find it weirder that someone equates gore in film, regardless of it's context, to actual violence.

Top 3 in no particular order would be:

The Lighthouse
Marriage Story
Parasite

Potential contenders I've yet to see are Uncut Gems, Honeyland, The Farewell, Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Birds of Passage.

Finally saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood this weekend and it’s been my favorite. Haven’t seen a lot because I got my internet suspended for torrenting after 12 years but I got it worked out now. Loved it.

I haven’t seen a lot of movies this year.

I can tell you the two worst were Child’s Play and It 2. Fucking horrible shit that makes me want to puke that anyone got paid to make that shit.

Marriage Story was fantastic. It probably not to everyone's liking but the way they argue was just so real and raw. it sorta allowed me to see my relationship from a different perspective.

Disappointing about IT2, did you like the first part? I'm currently reading the book for the first time before I see the movies.

Top three for this year in no order:

Parasite, Uncut Gems, Once upon a time in Hollywood.

I wanna watch Lighthouse this weekend but don't love horror/scary shit, that's part of why I'm reading IT - to be less of a wuss...is The Lighthouse scary at all?

There are a lot of moments of tension and surprise but it's not a slasher by any means. I'd say it's more-so uncomfortable to watch than anything but discomfort of the audience is A24's bread and butter.

Haven’t watched many but Marriage Story had some top notch acting, definitely elevated Adam Driver up from fake Keanu as I previously envisioned him.

Midsommar was insane.  Whole time just like wtf is about to happen.

Midsommar was good. I went to bed after watching it and could not stop thinking about it, so I guess that means it stuck that landing.

Us was interesting.

IT Chapter 2 was okay.
