How many bags of concrete?
« on: January 15, 2020, 06:10:09 PM »
I’m eyeing up a spot to build a quarterpipe up to a 1.5’ ledge. Not digging into existing slab. Around 4’ wide, aiming for 3” deep, mellower transition (7’?).

How many bags do you think? 4? I’ve worked with concrete before but we’ve hand mixed or gotten a truck and I don’t know how it translates to 60 or 80 lb bags of quickcrete.

I did a conversion for the dimensions(euro trash here) on this and we did something equally small when we first started working with concrete. In my opinion it´s not worth it because most people will think it is to small and tight and will just skate it like a regular ledge coming from the side.

How much crete for 1 sq ft, 4" thick?

https://quikrete.com/calculator/main.asp says 50 lbs

I wanna add a wedge to the side of a parking block
4" high, 6ft long, 45 degrees
Or the same as a 4" x 4" log 3ft long
Chop it up again and I'm at 1 sq ft of 4" slab
Sound right?

Listen guys, i can understand wanting to do a calculation when you are doing something big since a) you don´t want to be short on bags an go back and forth to get additional bags and b) you don´t want several excess bags to store away somewhere. But in here we are talking projects which take 1-2 bags at max and at least where i come from these bags are dirt cheap. We talking 2$ when you buy the premium stuff. Just get 1-2 bags and be done with it.

I don´t mean this in a condescending way. I guess what i am trying to say is. Get some experience with it and play around with it. In the future you will be much better at gauging what you need. You can do it!

I got enough junk. Don't need 50# of crete hiding in a corner of my garage.
Was hoping some coredawg would just say, yep, 1 bag, put some rubble at the bottom if you're worried about running out. Woulda been quicker than that first response.
Guess I'll have to dig out my dickies, vans, trucker, wallet chain and have at it?
If I put beer in the mix will it cured faster? I gotta do this fast cuz businesses are open!
