Goofy/Regular Bias
« on: February 14, 2020, 10:50:12 PM »
Hello. I've noticed that I tend to watch and enjoy goofy footed skate parts because I am goofy. Is it unfortunate that I would be more satisfied if everyone rode goofy?

Does anyone share this sentiment?
It’s all nothing and it still matters.

Hardly even think about it when watching any skating, to be honest.
I think that's actually an old Heath graphic.

When I was real young, for some reason, I thought you were goofy if you skated transition and regular if you skated tech stuff.

The only time stance really matters to me is when I want to try a trick either frontside or backside at a spot and the way it's set up it's either I can't do it the way I want, or I have to try it switch, which I know won't happen.

Goofy club over here.

Anyone remember tech deck dudes?

Certain tricks at spots will look better filmed goofy then regular and vise versa. Sometimes I wished a spot was backside or frontside for me  but you're bias and it's all the same shit.

I'm regular and prefer the goofies.

When I see a goofy skater I get more into it because I imagine myself doing the trick. It's harder to do that with a regular skater.  Most of my favorite skaters are goofy. I'm not sure if it's related but maybe?

Goofy foot here but I'd say 90% of my faves are regular. I actually started skating as regular for the first month or so but switched to goofy to be the opposite of my best friend. Pretty sure we took a vote on who would skate with which foot (we were 10) and that early in the game, it didn't matter skill wise.

Does anyone share this sentiment?

When I want to study shaping of someone who’s the opposite stance then me. I will put my laptop on the bathroom sink facing the mirror, then I will record the reflection on my phone. Helps to visualize it in your stance.

Back in the day, nuns would just hit all the kids who were left-handed. It's not relevant but I hope it helps.

Sometimes I feel kinda bad for all you regular footers because goofy is so superior in every way.

Guess God just hates you 🤷‍♂️

2020 and you losers really in here being basic. No one starting skating today picks a stance. Booth foots go forward and us kids skate both ways. Don’t misstance us.  Y’all sound like a buncha boomers

I'm goofy and regular-footed skating often feels 'switch' to me when I watch it, even if the skater actually has solid regs style and posture.
