Any PALS left handed but regular footed?
« on: February 19, 2020, 07:43:32 AM »
This question came up at the session the other night.
Obviously tons of right handed folks are goofy, but what about my Southpaw bretherin, any of you all regular?

I am left handed and skate regular. Always wondered this myself, but I'm kinda all over the place. I throw right handed, scissors left, bat left, hockey stick right handed. Weird shit.

Are you good at switch tricks?

This would be some seriously rad data to poll and see if there is any correlation.  I've always been curious but look at my friends and nothing correlates.    Not enough left handed people to match the amount of regular footers.

But a simple thing to look up would be what's the rough percentage of left handers in the world.  Its about 10%

I somehow doubt 90% of skaters are goofy but there's still numbers worth looking into to see if there is some relationship/correlation there.

Right handed right foot forward here.

Left handed and regular. Kick right footed and use a mouse with my right hand.

write left, throw left, play drums left, shoot right, golf right, play guitar right, use scissors right, skate regular.
i’m fairly sure it has to do with eye dominance - im left hand dominant, right eye dominant.

From what i’ve seen the two don’t relate much. I think left handed ppl make up like 10 percent of the world and i’d say like 30-40% of skaters/surfers/whatever are goofy footed. My dad has surfed his whole life and is a left handed goofy footer though

not the most scientific approach. Not enough data but it's a start

I shoot left handed...hm weird. I'm not a great shot though tbh. Maybe I should switch.

Left handed, regular footed.

When I played soccer as a grom, I kicked right footed. Always thought that was weird.

I think the only definitive thing is that people who naturally push mongo and are goofy foot; are left handed.

Leftie and regular. Started Mongo as a kid, but after being kooked for it I learned to push regular. But it did give me a mean switch push so I suppose it all worked out. Fuck chainsaws btw more lefties die from them every year than anything else.

Lefty, regular, pretty bad at switch. Never pushed mongo. Right eye dominant. Kick left foot in soccer, mouse right hand, pick my nose right hand, throw left hand. Shoot basketball equally good with either, but that's from injuring my left wrist skating and having to learn to take all my shots left handed at one point.
on the commentary for the scene where jeremy klein rollerblades at that little skatepark he said the actual blader with dreads who was there came up to him and asked him if he listens to korn

I think it has to do with your DNA and the subject of Laterality. I'm way more at ease with this life long discussion just giving up and saying you're born that way.

yes i am left handed and regular. pretty sure there is no correlation, i've always tried to blame being left handed for having bad frontside tricks but in the end I just suck. nollie feels super comfortable out of all the other stances. switch mongo push as well but that's laziness. decent at switch tricks but have to work super hard for it and they definitely look switch.

Eye dominance really interests me in terms of skating stance. I'm right eye dominant and skate goofy and it feels really natural.

I'm also right-footed and have always been good at kickflips, and nollie 360 flips feel natural, but normal 360 flips took me forever to learn and still feel harder. I think this is because it's a back foot trick and my left foot sucks.

Anyone who pops with their dominate foot find 360 flips more natural than kickflips?

Lefty and regular footed here

- Mouse Right
- Guitar Right
- Handwriting Left
- Drums Left
- Scissors Left
- Kick Both
- Golf Both
- Bowl Left, but not terrible Right as well

I think some stuff I do is just how I adapted to a right hand dominant world

I’m left handed and regular. Not any better at switch or nollie than the average person, but I am wayyyy more comfortable doing my no comply tricks switch. I wonder if stance has more to do with what eye is dominant, since my left eye is facing forward cuz my right eye is shit.
