the humiliation ritual at the end of every episode where they make their guests take a bunch of goof swag HAS to go. do it off camera i don't need to experience that.

Jake Vogel seemed to appreciate his crispy new Nine Club hat so much that he wore it to the Epicenter opening.

Just listened the Lotti ans Conlik episodes during a drive while professionnal business trip . I feel sideration watching Nine Club crew having absolutely NO CULTURE  in skateboarding . How can people have a talk show on a topic with so low history knowledge. All seem nice and fun guys but everytime guest is lauching a topic the Nine crew seems lost , I guess they google  what the PRO  is saying . Awful and sad.

Beside this I love their comments

Ah yeah

Wow

Cool

Insane

Ah yeah

Wow

Cool

Are you kidding

Raaaaaaaaaad

Cool

Wow

.......

Respect to the guests Conklin and Lotti ,  good people with large culture ,  satisfying , us , skatedads  all kept our memory

I generally enjoy most Nine Club episodes and just take them for what they are, but you're right. all those dudes have no knowledge of skating history if it wasn't from 1992 onward.  They're skate knowledge begins and ends with Guy Mariano and Eric Koston.  Whenever there's late 80s guys or older dudes like Steve Olson and Salba, they're clueless to anything of those eras.

I think that was Rog’s job.  I’m a bit surprised they bring on so many old skaters but I guess it aligns with the demographic of podcasts, who’s available and who feels the need to tell their story.  I’m guessing too guys in their 50’s maybe have a bit more dough or desire to get on a plane to LA.  They’ve also done so many people so respect to them for that.  Listening to Monica Torres interview and I like it, it works best when they have a bit of familiarity with the skater.

Crob's best footage isn't even worthy of last part in a shop video.

Wrong. I am not defending the Nine Club but his skating has always been excellent and distinct.

Crob’s clearly homosexual guys who cares

His piss poor attempt at ‘dry humour’ is the problem, you don’t got it Crob, you too dumb for that

They had something good going a longggg ass time ago, now it’s bottom tier shit, literally every other skate podcast is a better listen

Dude, you gotta name a video or this statement falls flat (kinda like how chris never skated down anything besides a skatepark hubba)

His Chocolate Tour part is a perfect two minutes of footage.

Chris Roberts wasn’t a bad pro skater, he was just on a team/in videos with generational talents.

For me, it's not that they just don't know, it's that they're not embarrassed about not knowing and have zero interest in learning despite the fact that their $ depends on creating an entertaining interview with those people. How lazy do you have to be to be unwilling to make an effort until you just starve to death?

I will admit that Kelly seems interested in learning but any meaningful discussion is diverted by Crob talking over everyone.

I'm waiting for a Bill Danforth episode to drop. Skateboarding's original town drunk. We need a proper History of Skateboarding According to Bill told in progressively slurred English.

I watched their live thing last night where they watch skate videos and give their opinions.  Have not checked in for a long time.  First off, that 'new' (?) studio looks super depressing compared to their other one.  Which brings me to--they gave off super depressed vibes really.  I used to enjoy it a bit more than many on here I guess back when they were kind of animated and seemed to be enjoying what they were doing.  And I met Chris briefly a while back and he was super nice.

But this just seemed like they were going through the motions and would rather be anywhere other than where they were at the time.  They honestly seemed truly depressed.  A real downer for whatever reason. I wish them well.

Yeah, I noticed that too - at least the old studio/set had some character to it! They also used to do fun Christmas episodes with the PB Whiskey and holiday cheer. Now it's just "this is our last episode until after the holidays" or something like that. They should take an extended hiatus if they're burnt out.

Nine Club still has so many heavy hitters that they haven't been able to get on the show.  I want to see Lucero, Gonz, Natas, Ed Templeton, John Cardiel, Tom Knox, Julien Stranger, etc.  It's nice they got Brian Lotti recently, that one was rad.  The Darren Navarette episode from a year or so ago was awesome too.  Navs rules!  A lot of the newer guests I don't even know who they are to be honest.  The new studio is pretty depressing too.

With how many interviews I see with ed it must be he just doesn’t want to do the 9club or can’t be bothered to leave HB

Nothing can be good forever. I rewatched the Jovantae episode yesterday, it was still great. It’s more hit or miss now but shit they had Lotti and Lance Conklin recently, there’s still some hope
