Hello, I just wanted to provide a little insight on the current situations going on in the SF skate community. As a survivor of rape myself I am
very aware of how real/serious some of these accusations are and how they can also be weaponized by opposing groups of people to tear down other groups. That being said I believe every situation has a silver lining and now the topic of sexual abuse/assault is something we have a broader understanding of. But unfortunately sometimes these situations can be taken advantage of for the wrong reasons. I have been seeing a lot of stuff attributed to the allegations against the gx1000 crew and Jamal Gibbs. As someone whose lived in the Bay Area for a while now I’ve always remained impartial to any crews in the city so you can take my post for what it is. Unbiased. Unfortunately the circumstances regarding the allegations against Jamal are not 100% accurate. I know both the accuser and the accused. I am not here victim blame or take away anything from legitimate accusations. But the narrative being pushed in this situation is false. The accuser has a history of making false allegations on social media dating back to 2015 till the present. People who were previously jumping to her defense here in the city have slowly started to realize the truth and how much damage they have inflicted on an innocent party. The accuser is mentally unwell and we all hope she gets the help she desperately needs. As a survivor we are told now to get upset when people make false accusations because it is most likely a cry for help to the public. That being said I do understand the public opinion on the gx squad and how they do rub people the wrong way. But unfortunately for them anyone wearing a gx hoodie acting a damn fool is automatically associated with them even without the group ever knowing or skating with that individual. There are plenty of skaters out here who were the first to shame Jamal who now have even more explicit accusations being made against them. We all must be held accountable for our actions regardless of the intent behind them. But to sit back and stay silently when something as serious as rape is being used as a tool to pursue personal vengeance would be a crime in itself. I am here to answer any questions and will not take any criticism offensively. I am only here to bring a little clarity.

Theres alot of dudes who go back and forth from Seattle to SF, lot of transplants both ways.
The seattle dudes roll with Awaysted and Western world ,
dont know them personally that well but they were mostly chill, some have that real jocky take over vibe.

The SF scene has changed alot, it feels like skating overall has. In general it feels like a jockier aggressive terriritorial socal surfer has emerged on top and undermines having fun and integrity of skating just for the hell of it

In SF it feels like two kind of sides. Theres the small scene of older cats 35+, some industry heads other just responsible mellow dudes and they run alot of events and get things going behind the scenes, theyve always been there from the DLX, lowcard, thrasher associates. Then theres the younger crowd thats exploded over the years, seems like GX1000 inspired a great migration and scene in SF. I cant really tell it seems like most our from out of town, they carry themselves pretty confidently and I have no idea how they live or pay rent here. The GX crew itself act like the popular jocks and are pretty much bullies except for Greene and a couple others who are chill only one on one, super wack to run into them at a bar , they really took over and created a culture within skating here thats super macho, dickhead aggressive dont give a fuck about anything, even worse than the old AH crust dudes Duffel talks abouts. They killed the values a cool scene of community oriented people that Karl and Thiebaud had sort of organically grown, including Oakland youth and now Unity is sort of bringing that back in a new way. Theres subsections in between the hesher and the fresh, Create is the pioneer of the younger scene since SOMA opened which became our LES and out of that grew the MaxAllure crowd. Most are locals from the bay area, except for that Jordin dude always stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Hes a strange little socialite dude who rode that OF wave and tried to get that hype going for a skate team. They used to be a bigger crew w Nico and those cats but theyve splintered off depending who was able to get legit sponsors.

I dont doubt for a second Jordin is a creeper, hes a rich kid whos dad funded the whole project to become a hot streetwear commodity and they're part of the tech minded gentrifier capitalist assholes that killed SF

“Skaters are the jocks of San Francisco”

Whenever I hear this, I can't help thinking that people who believe this are either jocks themselves or spend a lot of time with jocks.

Is the image i attatched the accusation you are talking about against Jamal, or is this another accusation? I had actually never heard anything about it until this post, but my reaction is always to believe the survivors.

This is a great post, better than I could have ever described the scene. I know from having mutuals a good amount of the GX influenced transplant kids actually couch surf, or live out of their cars. A lot of them make money doing oddball jobs as well as door dash and delivery services. SOMA being SF's LES is a great way to describe it that I haven't really heard before. It has the same cool guy energy, although very recently it feels like an even younger generation has started to takeover and co opt the park. After asking around about Create splintering off, getting legit sponsors definitely played into it to some extent but I had heard there was possibly also some kind of disagreement in group that caused many to distance themselves from create.
