He said baffled, not bothered. I too find it funny that people who actually skate can't tell what way the board is flipping in clips sometimes.
It's a nollie varial heel done a little differently just the same as how a dolphin flip is a varial flip done a bit differently. Pretty sure Ronnie Creager had a clip of one in the early 90's.
