He's been of Vans for a while now. Maybe they're an old pair from when he was on Lakai, or maybe he just likes them.

Been noticing T-Hawk skating his Proto shoe from Lakai also. I’m guessing he left Vans, or Vans didn’t want to pay him. I like to imagine Reynolds leaving and Tony left right after. I feel there’s an immense respect between those two.

T-Hawk on New Balance would be really sick, honestly.

not sure if this is referencing tony or not considering he has only ridden for 1 other brand that still exists before riding for vans. also, “a skater” & “tony hawk” after not one in the same. going back to lakai seems like low hanging fruit, tony on nb accompanied by reynolds, both constantly hyping up dad shoes just works. i like everything nb does, even the shoes themselves other than the ‘n’ on the side. always been a super lame logo to me that yells “dad’s lawn cutting shoes” but the more i see reynolds post/wear them, the more accepting i am of that look & putting tony on the team/giving him a shoe i think would be awesome. that ugly lakai he did would actually work as a hawk nb model for all the older guys & would bring in a new/old clientele for nb.

imagine fucking the dog shit outta chris roberts

Tony made it known he only wanted to ride for skate brands.
Seems more likely for him to end up on Etnies than anything else.

What's weird is Vans bringing a couple big names on for shorter contracts then letting them go rather than doing anything to use their presence to maybe breathe some life into the brand.

They coulda let Reynolds design a cupsole like the Zahba. Doesn't even have to be a pro model just hype his input. Do a bunch of retro promo of Hawk in some colorways of the Classic skate line or give him one. The Reynolds Half Cabs were cool and his other colors were kinda meh, but it was pretty lackluster for an all time legend.

Vans has had a few pretty bad quarters. My guess with Reynolds and Hawk is that they brought them on, realized that they didn't have money to commit to a big project with them, and just let the whole thing drop.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

vans just wanted their name plastered all over a video game. that’s forever. once they got that lifetime marketing, they dropped whoever they could. the timing was far too obvious

Birdman wore all black Lakai photos in Chiba, and the episode of HawkvsWolf with the Boss, he's wearing Riley 3's. Maybe between the past connection with Lakai and sponsoring both Riley and Jimmy Wilkins who skates Tony's ramp a lot.. I would think he's probably got a ton of free will wear Lakais in the meantime.

Side bar off of this. Recently I've seen comedians like Whitney Cummings doing ad reads for Cariuma. Made me think/ponder if they've reached out to Tony and Jason as both guys are shoe sponsor less, would authentically use the products and promote them if they sponsored the show. Wonder if Tony would consider.

My theory is the zhaba was with him in mind even down to the first colors being brown as he has a thing for brown shoes. He just already decided to dip when they approached him and then remembered they signed Zion for the Olympics and just gave it to him.

If you were the Airwalk TM gimme 4 names excluding Birman you'd put on in attempts to give Airwalk new life.

I mentioned this in another thread,

But Tony was suppose to host park series, but that was canceled. That exclusivity kept Tony from announcing other events. Vans was suppose to sponsor what i assumed became vert alert, but that also never happened. It was probably because of Covid and also vans low financial performances.

I think Lakai and tony were a great match. I saw a lot of older dudes rocking protos. I had a pair too. I think he had two parts during that time too.

If he is redoing airwalk that would be interesting atleast. Clive Dixon did that air walk ad a view months ago.

I know every time I log on to a skate shop’s website and see them blowing out Vans, adidas, Nike and NB for 60% off retail, I think “the world needs another shoe brand.”
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021
