ATARI TEENAGE RIOT = WORST MUSIC OF ALL TIME

I often dig in the crates at Ameoba to find samples for the beats I make.

I saw an Atari Teenage Riot CD in the $0.99 Electronica bin.

Now I knew this group existed and remember hearing about them touring with Rage and Wu Tang...but I had never actually heard their music.

So I picked up the disc. How bad could it be for $0.99?

Turns out it can be really, really bad.

This is terrible. It's like a cacophony of horrible sounds, like fingers on a chalkboard, with no real direction or form. It's just a wall of noise.

Who listens to this shit? Is their entire audience just speed freaks?

Please someone explain to me how this group obtained a record deal yet alone a following.

i'm by no means a fan, but i mean, that's how they sound. it's electronic noise music, the idea was to make techno for anarcho punks.

audience of speed freaks is probably right, though.

i watched a video of theirs a while back on youtube which i remember i thought was sick when i was 14, i couldn't finish watching.

I remember this weak ass techno kid finding out that raverbashing was just speed up Slayer tracks and yelling. This dumb fuck was all like “hey, you listen to death metal right? Can you send a playlist of your heaviest stuff?” I told him I wasn’t going to be apart of bastardized songs that I care about.

Atari Teenage Riot is a horrible name and I generally just judge books by their cover so I'm gonna give OP the benefit of the doubt and just not listen

What this guy posted is even better than the CD I bought (it was titled "60 Second" or something to that effect). The video he posted at least even has a discernable beat...

Their shit gets way worse than that. I know from experience.

I’d argue there are *some* redeeming qualities so it’s not the worst music of all time.
I think the worst would be something like X Ambassadors or AJR, who I know of because I worked in a record store. They make music that only belongs in cell phone commercials but people actually listen to it

how do they even choose their songs? Cellphone and car commercials have the WORST music ever, but how? Why? And since when?

I lump them into the "power noise" fad of the late 90's. Actually, I think they were a bit more listenable than a lot of other power noise bands. They had a nice cover of Sham 69's "If The Kids Are United."

An example if REALLY obnoxious 90's power noise below. Main problem was, you can't dance to the shit!

worst music i've ever heard was my friend's band the Chaos Pukes they were shotgunning beers at 11am to play a family friendly music thingy and non of them knew how to play their instruments. it was 3 diff tempo basicly atonal and random unintelligible lyrics overtop. All I could do was laugh hysterically cuz I was high as fuck at the time. I'm sure they were pissed off that I didn't take their art seriously but they were literally just out to cause chaos and puke. fuckin retards i swear to god

I'll still listen to it every once in a while for nostalgia but I think if you aren't at the right level of teen angst when you first hear it, it's not going to work.

I don't actually consider Atari Teenage Riot to be the worst music of all time anymore. I was way off and don't know what I was thinking. We all have our moments where we get something incredibly incorrect in life and this was that moment for me. But I can admit when I'm wrong. So, everybody, please accept my sincerest apology.

I remember in that movie "Spun" there is a scene where Jason Schwarzman ties a girl to a bed blindfolded and then turns on the stereo to some awful noise music and leaves.

Atari Teenage Riot reminds me of that music.
