Gnarliest kickflip front board
« on: May 18, 2020, 02:15:20 AM »
Every time I see a kickflip front board down a large handrail I find myself comparing it to Bastien’s ender in Sorry and I still think that might be the biggest one ever done, which is insane considering that was nearly 20 years ago.

What are some contenders? Or just favourites of yours. It’s a great looking trick.

I’ll add that there might be some out there that are done on higher handrails or spots that’s are hard to skate, but I guess the metric I use is the traditional stair count, not to mention that rail looks steep.

I think the fact bastien just did it so well that no one will be able to top that.

Also: the fact that sixteen stairs was (and still is) huge for someone who’s not really a “rail skater.”

Heath done some good ones, Arto too.

Said it in a different thread but I don't think there's another trick that hasn't been one upped for such a long time. Almost 20 years and no one's done a bigger one. Not that I can think of anyway

Bastien's is legendary. IMO tho Jon Allie had the best flick front board (and flick back lip, front lip, back board, front nose, etc...)

I think it’s still Bastien. If I remember correctly didn’t his rail have something wrong with the ground at the top?  Regardless so gnarly and to think a 15/16 year old kid did this like that. Legendary

Wasn’t Bastien’s first try as well? I don’t remember where I heard or read that

Especially since it’s implied he did that while skating Royals

Not the biggest David Gonzalez fan, but the one at 5:14 is proper and that 14 rail is intimidating.

If they were anything like the 1 pair of Royals I had, there was at least a 50/50 chance of them snapping on impact. Clips like these make me wonder if the rumors are true about Crail riders getting better product (or secretly riding one of the big 3).

Royals and Tensors were hands down the worst trucks I've ever owned. Tensor even had that stupid slide piece.

I've only done one kickflip front board ever. It was on a parking block and I went to fakie. So any of these are better than mine.

Heath done some good ones, Arto too.

I know that Heath did the first one on a handrail but I can’t think of any that he has done on anything large. As far as Arto goes, I can’t think of any memorable ones that he has done. He’s got one of the best front boardslides though for sure. And switch. In fact, his switch front board down Hollywood is the standard by which I measure all other switch front boards. Cephas from the bunt had a really good one in a shop video that I cannot remember the name of.

Bastiens is goat but thats also kinda sad. I remember seeing that and thinking skateboarding was progressing at such an insane rate. I bet if you asked anyone where we would be in 20 years time back then, everyone's predictions would be way over blown. I feel sorry for this generation in a way, instead of getting to witness these kinds of progressive leaps, they get to watch youtube influencers release parts that woudn't have even made the cut on a homie vid back in those days.

thought about this the other day, i kinda wish his switch front board was his last trick in Sorry, kinda a reversal from Menikmati
