Never been able to get basic proper bs 50-50s on ledges. Can only get on bs coming from behind a ledge.

Cannot figure out the bs shift and do them in the middle of a ledge.

Nose manuals.

Well popping into a nose manual.

I can do that bullshit where you just balance into a nose manny for a few feet but thatís about it.

Now that I think about it, outside of flip tricks most tricks done on the front end of my skateboard I have a hard time with.

Bs grinds/slides with the back half of the board in contact

I can hardly bs 5050 I've done a couple bs 5-0s in my entire life.  I've died numerous deaths in attempt at back lips and back tails on boxes and even in a mini ramp I've nearly had concussions underestimating these damn tricks.  Fuck em forever

The ever elusive backside 360 without any pivot. Been trying that trick on and off since the late 80s when I first saw Guy do one and have never really grasped the nature of the scoop.

I ain't giving up tho. I figure I got another 10 years of trying before it's too late for any hope.

Yeah, not counting slappies, I've never been able to 5050 or 5-0 backside. I'm sure I squeaked a few out on tall curbs when I was like 16, but it has absolutely never clicked for me. Maybe that'll be my 2024 skate resolution - master backside 50s in middle age.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

Iím not a frontside 180íer at all, so frontside lipslides are definitely one of the most awkward/unnatural regular tricks for me.

Thank you for making me feel better about my inability to do anything impressive.

Style points all the way for me… technical and trick skills are right in the trash.

It’s all 5050, 5-0, boardslides, and nose slides for me.

Once upon a time did a crooked and landed. Did a back blunt pretty well on a high curb once. Back 5-0s rarely, and eat a lot of shit.

Back tail only once on a beautiful low CA red curb, but could not ride away. Never again.

If there’s one trick: back tail. I wish I had back tails. (I’ll just be thankful for front boards though… those are fun as shit to come out regular)

front blunts on tranny and back 5-0s on ledges will always be my kryptonite. And don't even get me started on nollie flips

I mean front tail is probably the easiest of all tail/nose slides and back tail is prob the hardest so dont feel bad about that

Scoop is all in the big toe sort of hugging the side of the tail, you build up pressure against the edge and then you pop. If you can b/s 360 powerslide on flat then your upper body already knows how to spin the whole way around, it's the exact same thing except you focus on the toe and hit the tail. When done right has little to nothing to do with scooped backside 180's at all. You'll get them.

Backside airs are the big one for me, have only got them over coping by going off hips. Weird trick as they feel absolute shit trying to ease into them by doing them under coping, but yet can launch them above coping just fine but can't get myself to commit coming back in.

Switch 3 flip. As Iíve been getting older I have slowly just gone to wider boards so it may not be happening. And thatís ok.

Try pretending you're ollieing into a nose stall on flat. That's how I learned them.
The cia should be sucking our toes and building us better ledge tech.

I've never been able to do proper backside 360s. Even on a hip they're rather suspect. I can do full on popped and roated full cabs on flat, but that doesn't translate rolling the other way. From what I hear, its all in the scoop, but despite being able to do impossibles and and scooped 3 shuvs, I was never able to rotate and piece it all together.

Impossibles and Pressure-Flips. I'm okay with these, because I suck at flat in general. But most things I have actually practiced seemed to be somewhat doable. These are not.

Frontside Feeble Grinds. By my definition, the only basic grind on transition that I just can't figure out. I'm still not sure, whether I want to keep battling it or just give up on it.

Backside airs are the big one for me, have only got them over coping by going off hips. Weird trick as they feel absolute shit trying to ease into them by doing them under coping, but yet can launch them above coping just fine but can't get myself to commit coming back in.

I had been in this exact spot for years, until some 55yo vert guru told me to get my back shoulder up while in the air. Sometimes, it takes one little tweak to change years of futile trying.

I have battled backtail kf out so many times but never could ride away clean.

People who can switch hardflip amaze me, that trick just does not make sense to me.
[close]

that's wild to me because switch hardflips make so much more sense. I can't get regular ones to make sense for the life of me.

Regular frontside 360's have always eluded me.

same here, swithch / nollie hardflips always were so much easier than regular ones. i think i've only done about 3 regular ones.

Nollie flips have been the one i could never figure out.

i'm kinda lucky in that a lot of the things i just 100% can't do are tricks that are sometimes looked down on. i can't do any double or pressure flip variations and the only no comply i can do is to front tail on curb.

as for normal tricks, i feel like hardflips are the most basic ones that i'm in danger of dying without ever getting in any stance  or in any situation.
