I normally brew my own, but when I can afford it:

Little Creatures Pale Ale
Coopers (Pale Ale and Sparkling Ale)
James Squire (Golden, East India Pale Ale and Amber)
etc.

I'm pretty unimpressed with the international (non-Australian) stuff thats supposedly good, like Heineken and Becks. Tastes too much like watered-down Tooheys New (bad). I wouldn't drink a Corona if it was free. It's amazing what people will drink if everyone else is. The leading beers in Australia are rubbish.

As far as home brew:

Morgan's Iron-bark Dark Ale is excellent. Almost a stout.
Cooper's kits are fool-proof (the ginger beer is good)
Cascade Pale Ale is good with added hops

I'm drinking a Black Rock East India Pale Ale that wouldn't taste worse if I used yeast collected from underneath my foreskin.

Does anyone else make home brew?

the problem is, most of the best beers don't get imported, and if they do they are hard to get. belgian beers are definately some of the best i have ever had, yet they are pretty hard to find in australia.

I'm not about to read through 3 pages of beers but did anybody mention Czechvar??? It's one of the first lager's ever commercially brewed and hails from the Czech Republic where lager was invented. In Europe it's called Budvar but Budweiser sued them in the past few years for trademark infrigement. Even though the Bud in Budweiser comes from Ceske Budejovice, where Budvar began after the Rennossance and is still brewed.

It'd be paralell the Cleveland Indians sueing the Cherokee Nation for trademark infringement or some shit.

Shit's not cheap though or easy to find. My daily drinkers consist of Miller products. They're like the AWS of the beer industry--still hail from the midwest.

I read about that in a Michael Jackson (rip) book... I've never been able to find it in any of the good beer bars anywhere.

I've never seen it in a bar but all the Trader Joes/Wholefoods/Healthfood/Coop type joints usually carry it. Green bottles, foil tops. If you ever come to Tucson I'll buy you one.

On another Czech side note--those folks consume the most beer per capita in the world and the Federal Gov't prohibits a beer tax to keep it afordable for the working man. When I lived in Slovakia it was about 35 cents for a lieter bottle, with a 10 cents deposit you get back on the bottle.

I once was at a bus stop drinking a beer when the bus pulled up. I just assumed I couldn't drink it on the bus so I went over and set it next to a trash can before I got on. When I got on the bus driver stopped me and pointed at the beer by the trash can and told me not to waste the beer. He held up the whole bus while I got off and went back for the beer so I could finish it onboard.

I'm on the $4 dollars a day budget, so my urge for drunkenness had satiation in a 40 high life. It did nicely.

my work gives me free beer. Here's thier description of their ESB I drink by the pitcher

BROWN'S POINT ESB

Bronze Medal at the 2000 and 2003
Great American Beer Festival ®
This E.S.B. is definately the house favorite. Exclusively hopped with Fuggles, this full bodied amber ale finishes smooth and clean. 5.6% ABV

oh, so smooth and clean.
I rarely venture into classic slap and the one time I do it I find a guy getting his dick eaten by a dolphin.

Clearly a man who drinks his beer in Texas.

MS props on mentioning Tecate and Modelo cans... The Grocery Outlet (which deserves and appreesh thread all it's own) has Modelo Especial 12pk cans for $5.99. It's a staple in my household.

You 2 get gnars for knowing what I'm saying. EspeciaLy in a beer thread. I just decided, straight to the store after work for a Tecate 12-er of cans.
Cheers and good weekend/drinking!
