Most of us interact with a decent amount of skateboarders and/or industry-related heads in real life.
I've found that only a few will ever mention/ admit that they lurk Slap - let alone post and participate on the boards.
It has me wondering how many people I know in real life that secretly lurk/ post on Slap.
Do you know anyone personally (other than yourself, obviously) who lurks/posts?
Have you ever gleaned awareness of a poster's true identity only to find you know or have known them in real life?
If so, did it change the way you see them as a person?
Does their Slap persona align with their true identity?

GAY and I follow each other on Instagram, that's about the extent of it. At least as far as I know.
I would be somewhat embarrassed if I recognized a poster in real life and had to clarify that "I post as Slappies on Slap" upon introducing myself.

The only poster I’ve allowed to view my personal life via Instagram is Monkey McPott. The rest of you can follow my PAL IG page that I fill with my favorite taxidermist work, critically review Hentai and cosplay a drunk Jehovah’s Witness.

Yes. Monkey_Mcpott and I were on the first team under 30 to win one of those Useless Wooden Knowledge trivia nights. We had plans to skate this week, but our schedules didn’t line up. I did skate with Allez_Jambon the other night though. I was a lot more active on here in the mid 2000’s right up until 2010. In that time I had met and skated with close to 50 of the Slap Pals from that era, plus however many other members from here

So far everyone I’ve met personally through Slap have been solid dudes.

Me and Francis Xavier have gone to a couple of premieres together. That’s my dawg!

Hung out with GAY a few times and we went to The Eagle together once.

Went to some events with Tom, mynameisnotjeff and Trickflip.

There’s plenty other guys that I chat with regularly through Instagram or text like doublesteveburger and Fakie Nollie.

I’ve been trying to be more open with meeting people as of late.

That I know of for sure, just one, who is on temporary leave due to work related purposes. Be safe out there my dude! Would be cool to know more. The amount of friends that still skate are just a handful, let alone who follow skateboarding and make time to post on a message board. Also, shoutout to Brendan aka The Secret Tape.

I caught one of the guys at BTL lurking on SLAP one afternoon in Toronto.

Also, a dude I just can't seem to get along with in real life is known to post on here, but I don't know his user name. I've asked around if anyone knows his user name, but he's done a good job keeping it a secret.

I was skating at a court spot in Austin on a trip and pretty vividly remembered sending some "yew"s this one dude's way and we didn't say anything to each other cause there were a good amount of people there. Might've handed him his board or something, or him to me at some point.

Posted my set up a few days later and a poster responded asking if I was skating the court spot cause he remembered my shoes and setup. He said which guy he was and I totally remembered him. It was a cool little thing.

I've also got some friends I skate with that lurk/ post on occasion, which I found out after we became friends.

Possibly but I don't know their usernames and I don't know that many people much less skaters so the chances are pretty slim.

I met up with Frank when i was in hamburg and he was showing me around, had a great time pushing through the city with him. We made plans to skate my hometown together but did not follow through yet, really hope some day we will.

I have seen silhouette at a contest in my hometown but didn´t talk to him. I was still a lurker at that time and the realization that he posts on slap came much later.

i hope i'll make it this year. that was a lovely day, even though i felt like the most disorganized town guide ever.

i already said this in a similar thread, but i know who matze is, but matze doesn't know who i am, hehe. even though we say hi to eachother. i haven't commited yet to tell him irl when i see him. i think it's funny and like to keep it that way. or waiting for the right moment to confess.

I’m connected to a few of you on insta and I went to high school with another poster on here but he doesn’t post very often. Another fairly well known skater from Aus used to post on here and through that we became a lot closer.

I’ve also had the opposite where I’m connected with someone on insta and then they message me and say, “ay wait, are you gay imp?” which can be kinda embarrassing...
