absolutely and unequivocally Mark Gonzales, and very much because of the indelible value of these images in my psyche (i've had the first Gonz graphic tattooed on me for over 20 years--Jeff Whitehead did it for me)

THPS roster aside, I was 13 and huge in to Chris Cole in the early 00s. I bought Zero everything and had those red, white and blue Zero sweatbands. Got circa JT shoes to complete the ensemble. Shortly after I got one of those Jerry Hsu how to use chopsticks enjoi decks that eventually lead me to discovering Louie Barletta who has been number 1 for me ever since.

Bob burnquist, I got into skating when tony hawks came out and he had a few clips in the intro. If I remember correctly... there was also a great section of all the neversoft game creators learning to skate... funny to think these were the first real skate clips I ever saw.

But my first idol of skating was probably bam margera or Geoff rowley.

Ray was definitely an early one for me too. That Ban This part was, and still kind of is, how I think skating should look in real life. You don’t have to do the gnarliest tricks. Just put a bunch of decent stuff in a line and keep rolling.

Tony Hawk. I was Bones Brigade kid growing up. We idolized those dudes.
