Yeah this dude totally had a tough upbringing in the rich ass suburbs lol.

Isn’t he from Carpentersville though? Not exactly country club territory.

After the long trials of haters who insisted you don't keep it 100 young steeze,

He's returned with the triumphant moniker, Oh Please I Keep It 1,000-Ortiz

Finally, the announcement Chaz's skating is aging like wine, but with 8 pros looks like Quel may have to stay am a Lil while longer.

I'd love to know what his Zoo contract was.

Honestly his skating has aged really well since he stopped being a little kid. I love his shit on insta now, and he’s still progressing. I’m excited for a full part.

Glad this dude is back on an actual sponsor. Remember reading something about how he wasn't looking for a shoe sponsor so he could wear whatever, whenever. Seems like he's been living well, good for him.

Has he been on zoo all this time?
Is zoo york still a company?

He’s been off and board sponsor-less for years. No idea if Zoo is still around and in what form.

Cool for Chaz and it’s cool to see people on here somewhat stoked. Since he’s been out of the limelight, it seems like he’s been skating with a lot of local Chicago / Uprise people lately so that made me feel a lot more favorable to him.

Hyped on this. He's pretty regularly skating with Kalis since he moved to Grand Rapids, so DGK/DC makes sense. I wasn't a big fan of Chaz's due to his sponsors and the Steez Ortiz thing, but he won me over after that Metropolis part. I've seen him skate in person a handful of times and he's shockingly consistent. I even watched a halfpipe session at House of Vans and he's surprisingly a great vert skater.

Here's a good article on his career: http://www.jenkemmag.com/home/2017/04/11/day-chaz-ortiz/

Guess you take what you can get...being in Chicago probably doesn't help him much.

That Ralph Lauren bear graphic is alright, I’m not really feeling the other ones.
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

Stevie Williams saying the word "NIGGA" really grinds my gears. I really don't understand the point of using that word, especially cuz he was typing it out. You know he had time to think about it

Good for Chaz he’s a really good skater and deserves this but Myquel Haddox should have been made pro by now.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.

Played steeze in a game of skate forever ago. Said I had gonz style. Knows how to butter my buns

Did you win?

No, we went back and forth on basics for a sec kick flip heelflip etc. I did a fakie big flip and he missed it. I missed the next trick then he went into fucking terminator mode and started doing switch front foot impossibles and shit. Kinda blew my mind cuz I’ve never seen him do those before and he did first try so casual

His Zoo contract paid him through fall 2019. I think he had a solid deal which included apparel and boards. I’d say 10k/month since the brand dropped everyone but him and became a mall brand. They kept him from the Street League connection

That whole bear series is remarkably bad. I’ve always been kind of neutral on DGK’s gfx, but those are super shitty.

Good move by DGK, feel like Chaz might be hitting his prime soon, which is crazy because he’s been talented for so long. What is he 26? Looking forward to his new part.
Chicago might not be good for skate careers but it’s probably the city I’ve had the most fun skating, downtown has tons of spots, some are a bust but you get that anywhere. Great place to vacation, Chaz totally kills that newer Chicago Park on his insta. NYC gets pretty old and LA is LA, both are blown out. Kalis, nick mathews, Chaz and many others have managed to get great footage in Chicago which isn’t easy. Uprise is a great shop and backs it’s people, gonna definitely pick up some gear there when I visit in a couple weeks.

I thought it ended in 2018 and he had a non compete clause that meant he had to be board less for 2 years.

Either way, making more money than most pros while under contract with a dead brand. NBD?

I believe you are correct; actually, i think he was paid through the end of 2018. Atleast according to my extrapolation from that jenkem article.
