Flipper Appreciation
« on: July 20, 2020, 07:45:52 AM »
Flipper has been in my top five bands that matter and get me going the minute I listened to them. Art Punk, snotty, vague and mysterious, intellectual, harmlessly confrontational, repetitive. Almost provided comfort to the inevitable bleakness and reality of our existence.

I have also included in this two recent discoveries of Bruce Lose's/Loose/s/Calderwood's solo project (just ordered the 7" of discogs for silly cheap) & Any Three Initial's (ATI) another project post-Flipper with Will Shatter that is truly grand in terms of heaviness and an indicator of crossover beginning to a heavier, metal sound.

I encourage you to check it all out. That Flipper studio tape is wild as it has songs on it that are nowhere else in terms of recording.

Flipper is sick. I freaked out when I heard they redid Sacrifice with the Melvins, who covered it in '92.

One of the all time great live videos.

Once I was alone I just laid on the futon listening to Leonard Cohen and thinking about the other girl I liked and missed.

Geez.

Am stoked to say that when my groomsmen and wife's bridesmaids walked out and we were introduced as a married couple, Sex Bomb blared. It was actually my wife's idea which ruled.
