Just remembered this 1-off character Karl, Homer's secretary:

Back when Simpson's still had an emotional core.

Guess Smithers wanted to be the only gay in the nuclear plant.

Another good 1-off character, John one of the few openly gay characters in Springfield. The was critically acclaimed for it's positive portrayal of gay themes.

Holy crap, so many great additions since I last popped in. Rocklobster I can't believe we'd all forgotten about Karl until now! What a fantastic episode, gonna have to re-watch that tonight.

Tonight the "Many Sided Story" episode about Linguo and Homer's thumb etc. came on TV, watching with my pops. He's not a Simpsons fan per se, but that episode has a "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World" essence to it that had him chuckling heartily

Such a great vocal performance by Harvey Fierstein, and great forgotten episode. "My mother taught me to never kiss a fool!"

"Homer's Phobia" is an incredible episode. A lot of the jokes still hold up today; I wonder what it must have been like to watch it in 1997(8?)

I like how in the episode Homer says that he not going to give Bart special treatment just because they're related, not before calling him sweetie in the very next line.

Love this thread! My favs are Barney, Otto and any Phil Hartman voiced characters. I still have my old Mattels from 1990 and a few randoms from Burger King I think it was. Have all the accessories like the slingshot, nuclear power plant gear, and voice bubbles but they are in a bag for safe keeping
