rick howard
« on: August 04, 2020, 10:23:51 PM »
i think i found out what year rick howard was born. this made me start wondering how old he was when yeah right came out...... the answer is, assuming my source is correct, 31....... which would have made him 35 when fully flared came out.

my point is, as i begin my descent into my 30s......uggh i dont actually even know my point, if i have a point......i guess what im asking is,

"is anyone else tripping out on this?"
there was such a huge deal with stay gold for andrew reynolds and that shit came out in like 2010??

I googled Rick Howard and it immediately said he’s 47 (born in 72, Carroll in 75).   Who’s your source?

Well, "Yeah Right" came out in 2003 so it sounds like nobody's math is too different...

Right, it’s just that very odd first couple of sentences phrased like he’s Benjamin Franklin Gates uncovering some long lost mystery

indeed, once i began to piece together timeline from rick howard, it was only natural for me question the very same thing. the only problem is, the clues we have, all contradict each other.

Good news!

I decided to get down to the bottom of this legendary skate mystery once and for all so I went ahead and checked the yellow pages online directory and sure enough it shows exactly how old he is. Can't believe I didn't think of this before.

Looks like Louie is 46 and lives with his 66 year old dad, or he’s 66 and lives with his 46 year old son

Huh, I thought he was 56 and lived with the skeleton of Oscar Wilde

What’s your favorite Rick Howard part?

My immediate answer is Questionable but I had a goofy Blockhead video called Adventures In Cheese that I watched hundreds of times

Questionable. I started seeing some photos (possibly Blockhead ads?) in Transworld that looked pretty nice before this, but Questionable was the first real footage I saw (I didn't know anyone with Blockhead videos, guys I knew were pretty H-Street/World/Blind/Powell biased.)

Was going to say Splendid Eye Torture for exactly the same reason.

"It's Canada" Rick immediately popped into my mind followed by that music.  SET and AiC were daily players before the World vids started. Still haven't bought a reissue block head yet. Was a big fan of Laban too.

Louie Baretta was born in 1983.

I believe those are the right numbers, but I can't tell if they're in the correct order.

The hair plugs also reminded me of when Alltimers and Zered Basset made that balding joke. That was funny.

Virtual Reality for sure. Followed by his Flared part, then his Yeah Right semi-part.

I've met him twice, very nice guy. I didn't inspect his face for wrinkles and I couldn't get close enough to his scalp, so sadly I have no intel re: his aging.

Time don’t stop. Enjoy the ride. Don’t listen to friends that say 30 is “old”. You’re not 21 anymore but there are plenty of professional athletes in the 30’s. Pretty sure you can manage to get out and skate to a level that is considered good for yourself, and probably even progress.

The "peak" age for male physical performance is 27.  But you can still perform at an elite level into your forties.

We have not gotten there yet, but I am sure we will have somebody who can skate skillfully in their seventies.

If Rick still skates, he should put out what ever he gets up to nowadays.  If he doesn't skate, well I guess he'd be like most of crailtap.

True. The people I knew who complained the most about being "old" were all in their early-'30s, but they were definitely trying to keep up an early-20s party lifestyle and it was making them feel like shit.

If skating into your 30s, 40s, and beyond is important to you, you'll find ways to enjoy it without feeling super rickety.
