Dude dropped classics for years before going full kook. The fact that he’s in the sunken place now doesn’t take away College Dropout or all the beats he produced for other rappers.
[close]

And the art he made doesn't exempt him from the damage he's doing either... people can still like his music while holding him accountable. Anybody who says 'I don't care what he did 'cause he made X' is a big part of the problem.

Agree, this ain’t me. Lol at people defending Kanye’s actions in 2020, I haven’t done that in like 10 years and he’s been pretty much dead to me since the MAGA hat, although I have sympathy for true mental illness which seems responsible for some of his shit these days.

If someone calls him a talentless kook as they often do though I will remind them that he’s given us gems like these a million times.

Not a Kanye fan, but he did produce a killer Pusha T track that i cannot remember the name of right now, and he backed Pusha pretty hard which makes him ok in my books.

Kanye produced the whole Daytona album, love this Pusha track produced by him, don cannon and 88-keys too.

That’s it? That’s an emblematic track off his ‘classic’ album?
Not impressed at all.

I used to be passionate about hip-hop up until the backpack era, and then only a few things grabbed my ear. Never gave College Dropout a listen, and it doesn’t look like I have a reason to start.

I forgot which Kanye album I heard last in full, but I didn’t care for it. Then I saw fucking blondey’s new part and couldn’t get that fucking gospel song out of my head. I’m a sucker for gospel music tho, u could drop some kirk Franklin on a session and I’d be hyped. When I heard that song in that part it made me really realize Kanye was trying to diversify his music and for real in terms of gospel it’s not Kirk Franklin or anything, but it definitely wasn’t “bad” if you like gospel.

Also you can't blame 2010 Kanye for 2020 Kanye and Dark Twisted Fantasy has some great songs.

On top of that he hauls ass and has mad pop.

I understand that he is mentally ill and clearly going through a bipolar episode, but what the fuck was he thinking doing a collab with vision for this election?

The smart money would be a Palace collab, clearly this guy is a political novice.

how did this chipmunk-faced cretin become a household name?

I used to think stuff like this too. Until I listened to his entire discography in chronological order. It became apparent pretty quickly...the dude is musically very talented and a incredible producer to boot.

He has real mental illness episodes being bi-polar that hold his career back (though sometimes he gets notoriety out of it)

His best record is Yeezus (2013)...trust me

His worst record is 808s & Heartbreak (2008)

Yeezus his best album? I’m getting old. His best 3 albums are in descending order from the start

1. College Dropout
2. Late Registration
3. Graduation

then all the rest.

Common’s “Be” is the perfect Kanye album though. Peak Kanye production, no Kanye raps.
