What do yall edit with?
« on: August 29, 2020, 09:49:17 AM »
I haven’t had a functional computer in years so I’ve been editing videos on iMovie on my phone. I have a MacBook Air or something now. What should I edit skateboarding on? Is it better than editing on an iPhone?

I've been learning DaVinci Resolve. Free download. Youtube video tutorials.
It's waaaay more capable than I can even comprehend but It lets me cut out dead spots between runs and slowmo clips when I want to see how bad I fucked something up.

I mostly use videos of me to try and hep me get better. Not to the point where I really want to share vids but this software is fully capable of about anything you can think of.

I used Avid Media Composer for documentary work for over 2 years and loved it. The most stable editing system I've ever used! For skating/YouTube work Premiere Pro works best for sure, although I think Vegas Pro is still the best entry point for people learning to edit. Simple enough U.I but almost as powerful as Premiere Pro

Premier pro, tonnes of resources as always on YouTube, I think it's pretty straight forward to learn the workflow

Avid Media Composer was made to literally mimic editing actual film. It has the steepest learning curve to figure out, and it’s still a pain in the ass to edit with as a casual user

You can download DaVinci Resolve for free and configure it and its settings to any other popular non-linear editing program. You don’t get the full version, but unless you’re editing actual movies, or doing serious VFX work you’ll be all good

Very true! However having Avid on a CV looks great when going for industry jobs!
