I have a friend that's starting a skate company. He wanted to see the most commonly deck sizes to make his first purchases. I appreciate everyone's input.

8-8.25

I tried riding an 8.5 for a couple of weeks and tripped on the edge of the deck midpush twice in the middle of traffic

I'm a 8.25 guy myself. Thanks for the input.

Been riding 9" decks.
Recently changed to 8.5", and I'm digging it.

8.5-8.75. 8.6is the preferred width, sometimes hard to find though.
Pretty sure that 8.5 and 8.38 are the most popular widths

8.25. Not too big, not too small.

8.375 x 14.5 x 32

These have been my favorite dimensions so far.

I've been on 8.3s for about a year.  skated 7.5s (and as small as 7.25) in my prime, but now even the 8.3 seems small.  8.3s are getting scarce, so contemplating going up to an 8.5 or down to an 8.25.  I do a lot of flip tricks, and they feel more solid on a wider board.

IMO board width is less important than wheel base or nose/tail length. I'll ride 8.4-8.6 and adapt but if the trucks are to close together I'll get bummed

If I started a brand Id go with
8.75 flat concave big nose
9.25 footballish egg shape
10.5 shaped kinda like a scram shape I like
All with 14.75 wheelbase
Luckily I dont have to lose a bunch of money starting a brand and can just get these products from various existing brands at my local shop.

I can never find a good 8.3 with a perfect shape.

It's a bastard child size for sure.

The NHS 'boat' decks, 8.3/8.5/9 all have 14.25" WB similar kicks but limited to a taperish tip. Really nice tho...the skates like an 8.25" (taper) but with room (width).

Length: 31.83 in
Width: 8.375 in
Wheel Base: 14.25 in
Nose Length: 6.90 in
Tail Length: 6.48 in
Concave: Medium

My favorite 8.3 by far.

14.75 was my favorite WB for a while, but i kinda like it a little shorter now at 14.3 to 14.5. which is nice, because its way easier to find.

i voted 8.5, for what its worth...
