IMO board width is less important than wheel base or nose/tail length. I'll ride 8.4-8.6 and adapt but if the trucks are to close together I'll get bummed

while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo
I've been on 8.3s for about a year. skated 7.5s (and as small as 7.25) in my prime, but now even the 8.3 seems small. 8.3s are getting scarce, so contemplating going up to an 8.5 or down to an 8.25. I do a lot of flip tricks, and they feel more solid on a wider board.
7.75 is the perfect size.

8.5 x 32.5 with a 14.75 wheelbase. Very, very few companies make this shape or size, but I really love the extra length. Gives me the feeling that I'm more in control.
