VX decks
« on: September 28, 2020, 08:14:47 PM »
Has anyone tried one of these? I'm  about to order this one from spot:

They're thinner than regular boards. 5 ply with 2 reinforcements. They look like they'd be lighter and have better pop:

Didn't try, but I took a long look at one of those McCoy ones last time I went to the shop. They seem to be pretty much the same as a Flight deck, 5 ply so super thin and probably have a bit of flex to them. I have a flight and it's pretty awesome but I don't really like the shape so I don't skate it much. If they skate like the Flight ones do then it's going to be feel kind of weird at first to skate something so thin and light so your timing will probably be slightly off, but once you get used to the springiness the pop is outstanding. I liked the shape of the VX a lot better than my powell, it's a little fuller and the nose seemed bigger but the tail looked kind of steep so I went with something else (a hockey, because they definitely don't have a steep tail at all right?).

Looked at that board the other day. Felt really crisp and light. Would’ve grabbed it but it was a little too small.

Opted for a heroin board instead due to longer wheel base.

Creature & Santa Cruz decks have really steep noses/tails. I think the P2 I'm riding has a similar shape, paired best with low trucks to compensate for the steepness.
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

They're awesome, but way too steep for me.

I'm riding an 8.25 VX (McCoy, symmetrical shape). Tips are pointy/tapered.

It's not super light but lighter than most BBS/PS boards I have lying around. It's thicker than a powell flight (about average board thickness).

As noted above, it's STEEP as AF, they are also STIFF AF. So I dig them. It's as steep as they regular (recent) NHS drops.

The boards in the new drop are not symmetrical.

You can't bend them either, I parked my car on a VX tail for 30 hours, ala Neiner, and the fucker just springs back to way too steep instantly.

Stiff and steep for sure. I ended up giving mine to a friend because I couldn't adjust. The steep and really tapered tail killed it for me. The stiffness was no problem, I just couldn't pop the tail right.

Ive ridden 2 8.8’s in the past....rode them backwards as the tail was so steep...worked ok. But also had to get slightly softer wheels to take the edge off landing on a stiff deck.

Otherwise...amazing durability and pop

I'm really liking it! The steepness I was on the fence about but it's working well for me. I want another one. It's so stiff, so crispy.

Not VX - but I did skate a Santa Cruz 8.38 that was steep. It worked well with Indy stage 7 and Mini Logo 8.38. Both effect wheelbase similar to ACE and mellow it somewhat.

Next board I buy is going to be a VX but I’ve have been rocking the Real Heavyweights decks. Just a smidge heavier but they last me going down medium gaps.
