I realized I don't know much about what's going on in this city, who are some local crews/filmers to check out?

Segatron Media on Youtube, he's been filming Chicago skaters and even put out a few full length videos over the past decade.

I skate by myself usually. The post office or 'flamingo ledges' (not sure what the cool guys call it) is my go to spot.

just moved here early last year. the scene is super cool, although i don’t consider myself apart of it. most of my friends here are transplants and coffee industry people. uprise is sick. i’ve bought a bunch of their gear since march to do my little part in keeping them afloat through this pandemic. at this point almost every tshirt i own is an uprise shirt.
cities cool. doesn’t get enough shine in my opinion, but i know for a long time chicago was actively trying to keep the city from getting blown out by tourists.

I've always heard security is nuts at the downtown/magnificent mile area. A bit surprised by the lack of iconic spots compared to other major USA cities (LA, NYC, SF, Philly). Brett Weinstein has had some great parts.

Question about Uprise: I know they’re in Wicker Park or Buck Town or whatever now. I think I read that they used to be down south at first. But were they ever located on Clark like across from Weiner's Circle? Or is that a different shop I’m thinking of?

I lived in Chicago for a long time, but was going through a not-so-much skating phase when I lived on the north side. By the time I was fully skating again I was living in the suburbs.

Marcus Sarsycki came out of nowhere for me, he's super good. His instagram is full of wild shit. (I always forget how to embed instagram clips)

Not sure what Dax Miller is up to these days, but he killed it back in the day.

The character dudes hold it down, this video is pretty recent I believe.

I live a block from where you mentioned and there was never a shop here (that I can remember)...you might be thinking of Sessions which was on Halsted near Lincoln & Fullerton.

They used to be on a different part of Milwaukee with a much cooler sign out front, but I don't think they were ever on Clark, and I don't think there was ever a shop that close to Weiner Circle.

Are you thinking of Windward Sports on Clark? They were farther north on Clark (only a mile or so). Had an amazing 2.5' micro ramp in the basement where I spent the majority of my winters from 2001-2008.

Chicago--Uprise (Uriah, Maya, etc.), Character (Alan), Clemente, Burnham, Wilson--brought me back to life after a hard stretch...some of the best skating i've ever done, i did in and because of that city...i am the truest believer.

although Detroit will always be my home and the truest skate city to me on a personal level, Chicago in my eyes is the skateboardingest city in this country...and i say that after having lived in SF a couple of times.

also, although i know he doesn't care too much about this kind of thing, Junior "JuneBug" Gonzalez is the truth--does SO much for Chicago skateboarding and for all of the "shorties" from the city...

Nick Mathews, his bro is a filmer.

I remember ideal humans was good with a heavy lineup. Thought it was on Vimeo but I can't find it anymore. Only thing I can find is Timmy Johnson part and a dead link to Nick Matthews part on the berrics site...
