Yes. Alva seems to have a massive ego but his influence is undeniable.

Yeah. That kinda sucks. Most people who have had the spotlight on them from a young age tend to have inflated egos. But I do want to see what kind of old footage they use.

It was hard to watch that post-film q and a. while Alva has clearly evolved, his ego is still rampant only now he wants you to know he's a guru who is trying to share positivity with the world. i'm just in a bad mood and cynical...

I ran into TA at the airline check in desk.........it was the morning after the Propeller premier and I was trying not to fan out when I spotted him......anyway he was super cool and even though out interaction was barely 30 seconds he seemed like a nice dude.  Looking forward to watching the video later......

I used to work at a shop in the early 2000s, I was out on a smoke break, and saw him come out of the shop and walk down the street.  When I went back in I asked damn, what was he doing here.  The other guy working said he was trying to get us to buy Alva decks, and I told him no one wants that old shit.  I just started laughing and told him that was Tony Alva you just said that to.  My co worker just said, really, well he came off of as an arrogant dick.  Fuck that guy.

I started watching it and was confused - I had seen it before.

Vans accidentally posted it to their channel early this spring and it was up for a couple hours and I caught it then.

I'm watching it again anyway.

^^^^This^^^

Not so much a "documentary" as it is a vanity piece. Just a bunch of dudes saying over and over how cool Alva was/is.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve the hype, but it really felt like 50 minutes of "Alva is cool," "Alva is the best," "TA is beast" etc. Did this really add anything new to his story that hasn't already been covered?

I did enjoy all the old photos and ads they pulled though, which leads me to believe this would have been better/more appropriate as a coffee table book.

I saw the link on my YT feed and thought, 'I'll watch that later'............and then it was gone, thought I had imagined it....we had to wait a long ass time to see it.

Watched a bit of this. Was sad seeing Grosso talk to Alva toward the end, Jeff seemed fragile.

Why is Eric Goff nicknamed "Arab?" Always wanted to know the story behind that.

It’s pretty impressive that even at his age he is still limber enough to suck his own dick.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

This is completely tangential to TA, but near the end where Grosso's baring his soul to us in his garage, I really couldn't help but notice a prominent vintage circa '95 - '96 TSA Clothing sticker among all the other more Grosso-centric decals. One of my favorite obscure skate anecdotes is that apparently, when Grosso was at his lowest and living in an old Quonset hut in Costa Mesa, amazingly Tom and Muska in their salad days would occasionally come visit him, in what I imagine was basically a pretty Feck in "River's Edge" scenario. I assume that this sticker comes directly from those "sessions", which is pretty neat.

here's to things that are "tangential to TA"

these kinds of comments continue to replenish my faith in Slap--i did not know that Muska and Penny did that, and if so, i fucking love it...no matter how piled out he was, Grosso deserved it.

nerding out on skating and skate history is an integral part of being a skateboarder, and i bet Grosso would approve of your perspicacity (and good eye) here friend...

I don't want to come across as an asshole, but what did he accomplish that we should care about him?
Again, don't want to be a dick, just curious.
