Are there any big boys out here (I'm talking 230+ lbs) who skate 7.75"s? and If so, what decks do you guys ride with strong durability similar to the Santa Cruz VX decks? I have been usually fluctuating between 8.25 and 8" decks, but I wanna go back to 7.8 or 7.75s (my old go-to size back in the early-late 2000's) to relearn my old bag of flip tricks and get my switch tre flick back on a smaller board. However, I noticed that when sizing down as well as given my heavy weight, I go through standard maple 7 ply decks super fast, even on some days where I just warm-up on flat and basic low impact stuff and end up accidentally snapping a deck before the 5 day or one week mark of usage.

current weight fluctuates between 230-250 lbs, I'm 5'11", with a shoe size 10.5-11  and I would say, I am built like a baseball or football athlete, but with a slowly growing dad belly lol.

I'm pretty bummed that NHS VX decks and crailtap pop secret decks stop at 8.0" minimum. I don't mind paying for the mark up price if It means a board lasting a month or more for my fatass

I haven't really scrolled through the pages this thread, so idk if this has been discussed already

Usually float between 220-245 and I just ride whatever affordable dwindle usually enjoi or almost for my 7.75. but on my skinny board I only really skate flatbanks, flatground, ledges and Manny pads prob 20 inches high max (usually closer to curb high). Gifted hater woodshop vid says DSM boards are stiffer so maybe that helps keep them going under stress of heavier weight but honestly I haven't tried a large range of modern skinny boards.

never heard of Penus wheels, so I looked em up, these shits are wild

Grindking bolts

those bolts are sick, I'm seriously considering getting them. How was installation? Did you hammer them in place first or just start twisting the nut on the other side?

Both of those are dope, I wish they made small ass footballs like the Guy board more regularly these days. The only option that I know of other than reissues are the Heroin "Lil Egg" which is 7.9" at its widest

Op, you ok man? Being real here, you doin alright?

I wish I hadn't laughed as hard as I did when I read this post. I don't think those wheels would even roll if I tried to ride them. So wild. The lightweight though must be super nice

Ideas for boards with nice tapered kicks like the 90s shapes??
Most boards now days are squared off kicks and I am looking for more tapred kicks.

My 8" Almost Resin 7 is pretty tapered.

Have to say avoiding this brand for years and swearing I'd never skate anything related... I actually love this thing now.

Depends how thick your trucks and deck combo is but mine was perfect that I didn’t have to tap the stars in and just turned the nuts. If it’s too thick I just tap it in slightly to start.

Just got an April 8.25.  It is BBS, but nice and mellow kicks.  I've heard all of their sizes are pretty mellow.  I'm liking it so far.

For everyone on 7.875, do you go with 8 inch trucks or do you like them smaller?  On larger decks I'll go up a size in trucks, but on these, I tend to feel like 7.63 trucks are slightly small for my liking.

I am currently on 7.875 magenta with thunder 147. I feel it super good. I may go for smaller trucks if i am on 7.75, but even then i still might consider the 8 inch trucks with some slim wheels. Does any of you skate like these? I see some pros skate 149 on 8.25 so i guess it would not be a problem for the smaller decks, too.

For me 7.75 can go either way.  Anything over 7.75 I'm using 8 inch trucks

Set up an alien 7.75 this weekend with throwback alien Xenia trucks (rebuilt) and 60 mm OG classics.  Had a great time on my "cruiser"-- yes, I think a 7.75 fun for street cruising and popping Ollies.  hit van cortland park in the bronx.

Guys, what brands are making 7.5's these days?

Or anywhere I can find some in Europe? Even blanks would be ok.

There aren't much options but you still can buy some 7.5"s. Where are you from? If there are not any in your local or your contry you could check some online shops. I have seen some 7.5s at freedomeskateshop.at , titus-shop.com , junkyard.com ,  skatedeluxe.com

AWS has them out periodically--none listed on the website currently but on completes, though.

I enjoyed lurking on this thread so much I made an account. I have a 7.75 toy machine laying around and some 52mm orbs wheels. I might have to take the venture 5.0’s off my cruiser and give this another go. Currently Riding a 9 inch egg on tiny wheels so it’s going to be a fun change up.
