First time caller, long time listener.  After trying numerous deck sizes and truck brands over the past few years (and suffering from serious madness), I threw some old Venture lows on an old girl 8.125 just to mess around.  It just clicked immediately like the old days.  Then I got the girl Tony Ferguson deck and hooked that up with some 5.0 lows and 50 mm lil smokies.  So much fun.  I know exactly what I need now.  I need to find a 7.75, but They all seem to be 31.25 or shorter.  Anyone know of a 7.75 with a 31.5 length?

Toy Machine and Santa Cruz make longer 7.75s.  Santa Cruz has a 31.6 actually

I did see the Santa Cruz.  I've never really cared for how steep the kicks are.  Something more mellow would be preferred.  All of the old decks that I rode were AWS and girl.  7.62 x 31.5 and 31.625.

Hi there, I believe Jart still make: 7.5 / 7.6 / 7.75 / 7.875 (look for the low rather than high concave decks) all at 31.6 long if that is any good? All have a 14.2 wheelbase too. I've been riding the 7.6 and 7.5's and really like the longer shape for stability when just cruising around and they are decent enough quality for me. They are made at HLC but I couldn't tell you how they would compare against another woodshop.
P.S I'm based in the UK and they seem widely available online in Europe but I'm not 100% certain about the rest of the world.
All the best!

Thanks, I'll check Jart.  Anyone ride the wknd 7.75.  I see it on their site at 31.25, but I know they are PS, so is it actually shorter than that?  Some stuff in their chart looks like PS measurements and other stuff looks normal

So I was checking out the 7.81 green eagle on Skatepark of Tampa website, and I noticed they had two sizes - 31.4 (which I always recall it being), and 31.75.  Anyone know what the 31.75 is?  Maybe the new China Deluxe decks?

So I also saw on the Theories site they have a few decks in 7.8.  Anyone have any experience on this?  Know what the specs are?  They smallest size I see specs for is the 7.875.

Thanks

venture 5.0h

Very nice set-up. I absolutely love Venture 5.0 Highs, they're easily my favourite trucks and aesthetically I prefer them over the Lows. The way 5.0 Highs turn feels just right to me.
Cheers!

God damn it, I can't get the 7.75" thought out of my head.

Been scouring the internet for 5.0 lows and a mellow 7.75 that is at least 31.5 long...

Been riding Powell/Mini Logo 8" on 5.2s for awhile now and love it, but... Well.

Have you considered trying your 5.2s on a 7.75 first? It might be an interesting way to size down as you would be used to the feel of the trucks already and it might end up saving you a bit of cash.
Curious what shape/size of wheels do you like? I found my 5.2 Highs worked well on a 7.875 Sour deck with chunky(ish) (34mm wide) 54mm Bones V4s. I changed to 5.0 Highs as I moved down to smaller 7.6/7.5 decks and ended up preferring those set-ups. I’ve not actually tried it myself but I would imagine if you went with a classic shaped or skinny wheel then a 7.75 deck and 5.2s may be a decent fit and could feel quite stable.
Cheers!

I only skate classic shape wheels, so I could certainly do that, but it just looks terrible to me. I'd be down to skate an 7.875 on 5.2s, but definitely not 7.75. The ~$45 for a new set of trucks isn't a big deal to me, more that I just feel guilty having all this skate gear and not even being that good.

Anyway, sacrilege to this thread, but today I skated an 8.25 Powell on 5.6 Ventures and holy shit it felt massive after skating 8/5.2 for the past few months. Was skating a rough asphalt parking lot, so didn't want to razor my Flight 8 straight away. Made me want to try a 7.75/5.0 even more.

I found a Japanese shop that measures their stock, and it looks like the Theories 7.75 is 31.56ish long. Might go that route, but also considering a Mini Logo 7.75, even though it's only 31 long. Loving the mellowness...

Sorry for my stupid madness post.

No worries and I hear you about amassing lots of gear! In the past with some unused gear I've ended up making up a couple of completes and donating them to a local charity shop but I'm due another clear out soon. Madness-wise after trying quite a few truck brands I've settled on Venture Highs as my go to as I find the turn stable/predictable and like the look of them. That 7.75 Theories deck you've found does sound good, it would be nice to see a picture of it if or when you go for it, I find other peoples set-ups really interesting!
All the best!

For sure, I give boards with plenty of life left in them to kids that deserve it at my local parks. Trucks I hold onto. Never know when setup taste may swing back to them. Plus nearly all my trucks are Ventures, so I keep em around for parts as well.

I also like Venture highs- the pop is unbeatable, but I have been skating better on the lows lately. Definitely will post pictures of/when I acquire the goods!

Good stuff, I spent a a fair amount of time initially trying some old street corner Venture 5.0 Lows on a blank 7.75/31.6 with a 14 wheelbase but I struggled a bit with sub 52mm wheels. I like to just cruise around on the local streets a lot here in the UK and the road/pavement surfaces aren't great. I ended up trying the Lows out with various riser pads but I didn't like the deeper turn (and paired with bigger 55/56mm wheels the extended wheelbase made the whole set-up feel a bit off). The Highs just tidied everything up and I've stuck with them since, on a 14.2 wheelbase 31.6 long deck they seem to do the trick and my skating has improved a bit since staying put on those.
Cheers again!

I don't get to skate much these days and am considering setting up a 7.75" nostalgia board. Anyone on here size 11+ rocking one of these long term lately?

no, 10-10.5, but i do on the regular.
there are a few that will soon chime in (hopefully).

7.75 on 139s is nice.
but 7.75, plus basically whatever, seems to be fine by me.

hope you get a good roll in

No problem, glad I could help!

SoCal skate shop uses Clutch for their shop decks, and are kind enough to include the shape code in their descriptions.

Skate Warehouse used to use Clutch for their v-natural shop decks, but the last one I got was Chinese…

Forgive the long post, but it's a special occasion

With the Girl 30 year anniversary, some of the reissues have thankfully been 7.5s and at 7.75. I'm not sure how limited these are supposed to be, but they're already selling out. The Carroll Astro Boy 7.5 disappeared in days.

Crailtap still has the Tony Ferguson in stock

The good guys at Atlas still have the 7.75 Howard, and the 7.5 Jeron and Sheffey boards. The Carroll board is already gone.

And some others I've found, though I'm sure there are more floating around

And on a somewhat related note, there is this Real Kelly Bird I knew nothing about. Look at how deliciously pointy it looks, it's also a 7.43(!)

Thanks for posting this. I was looking around last night and noticed there are even less options than usual for smaller boards.

What’s the consensus on clutch? My local has an alltimers 7.75 and I read that they use Clutch per the Woodshop directory.

Ok

yo this post is raaaaaaaad

i have an old tae (tag huer bite) graphic from ….2019? i’ve skated it on and off. started skating it a few weeks ago, loved it, waves of nostalgia for the better of me and i ordered 3 more 7.5 reissues from various sources. to skate.

of course, just like any situation where i dramatically change my setup, i skate good for me for a st most a few sessions, and then poof the magic is gone. that’s where i’m at currently. with three 7.5s headed my way. whoops.
hoping to just stay the course.
if nothing else the pov is great.
